Gluten Intolerance & Thyroid Problems

Hello, I'm new here so my apologies if there are already a bunch of topics on this!

I've just been diagnosed with gluten intolerance (only been off gluten for four days - currently in withdrawal hell), but the doctor thinks the constant gluten attacks on my body have resulted in thyroid problems too. I'm still waiting for the test results to come back but it seems an open and shut case based on the symptoms. I just wondered if anyone else had experienced this?

Apparently I don't need any kind of medication for the thyroid prob; just cut out gluten and it will eventually be fixed.

Awesome website, by the way. After the crazy symptoms I've had while withdrawing these last few days (all the physical stuff plus major anxiety and restlessness) it's been so good to log on here and know I'm not alone!

Many of us also have thyroid issues.  My thyroid shut down about 25 years ago.  Looking back, I probably had celiacs all the way back then.  I certainly had many of the markers of celiacs disease.  If you do have to take synthroid, check out some of the online sites to make sure you get an appropriate type and dose.  Good luck.

Thank you that’s really helpful, hopeful won’t have to have a biopsy.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
