York Test - Including Gluten In My Diet

Hi Everyone..

First thing i want to post is a big thanks to everyone on this board, and to the site in general. It has opened up my eyes to help me "self-diagnose" that i have gluten intolerence. I have cut as much gluten out of my diet as possible over the last 3months, and am feeling a good bit better.

I am and English guy, who is currently living in Paris, France and wanted to get some official testing done to ensure that i am not putting myself through all of this dietary trouble for no reason, but my medical french isnt up to much.. (lol).. -- and i am really missing croissants.. :(

I had been reading with interest the post about York's new test, and had a couple of questions..

Firstly, has anyone got any good/bad experiences with the tests which can be done by yourself?

My second question is around how long i need to put gluten back into my diet before doing a test, to ensure that the results reflect any condition that i may have??

Merci Beaucoup everyone..

Nick

I can't speak from experience on any tests, as I use my improvement in health as proof of gluten intolerance. Many have found diet to be the best and most reliable indicator by far. Also, being 100% gluten-free is really important. Just cutting out "most" isn't good enough if you have a true intolerance. The immune response, and subsequent damage will still result, though you may not know it.

Suppose you are told you have no intolerance to gluten? Would you go back to eating it and feeling sick again? Anyway, from what I've read, the typical test requires weeks or even months to get a fair amount of accuracy. Even then, it's not what it should be, at least from the posts I've read.

As for the gluten-free croissants, take a look here:

The maker of those lists enough ingredients that you might try duplicating the recipe.

Short answer: 2-3 slices of brad for 2-3 months.

Interesting, when I suffered for a few months with ectopics I noticed that carbohydrates would cause indigestion and bloating in my stomach, then that would lead to my heart skipping beats, and I could feel it in my throat, it was very unsettling.  My last serious bout of this was after eating a Muller Rice Pudding for breakfast.   I happened to be wearing a 48 hour halter at the time and cardiology picked it up, but they weren't worried about what they saw. There was some British doctor who'd made some videos on the Vagus nerve that I remember watching at the time which made sense of what I was experiencing, there did seem to be some sort of connection.

I asked my cardiologist about stopping vitamins.  He said his tests account for all detectable vitamins from sources other than food.  I only need to stop them for a couple of days.  He has me keep records of meds and vitamins I've ingested over the past 10 days and prior and he does his calculations.

Reply to treats I try and eat to bring up the glucose. Sometime I get up 3 times a night and eat something. I don't think food is the issue. A lot of the food they say should help doesn't.  Many mornings my level is 59 and I feel sick, sometimes for hours. It has been recommended I go to an Endocrinologist.
