So apparently according to some research many people with NCGS actually are intolerant to fructose/fructans in many gluten products. So apparently staying away from gluten is still helpful but it’s something to think about and consider going low FODMAP. My gut and energy issues started when I went low carb and decided I was being healthy by eating a ton of watermelon and cantaloupe/pears daily. I’m talking half a whole watermelon or more daily for two years consistently.

Good read and very thought provoking. Something a lot of people who thought they were gluten intolerant but have been tested and found not to have the villi damage characteristic of celiac disease need to explore.

But it needs to be emphasized this is only applicable to those experiencing digestive problems when consuming wheat, barley and rye who are not really celiacs. The article does make the distinction between celiac disease and gluten sensitivity but this one sentence concerns me: 

Those with a wheat allergy, Open Original Shared Link (about 1% of the population) and certain other autoimmune conditions get very sick if they eat it.

Depending on how you interpret the comma in that sentence it could be misunderstood to communicate the celiac disease is a food allergy.

My concern here is this finding will be misinterpreted by the media and the public who still confuse Celiac disease with food allergies and intolerances.

I found I had additional issues with sugars, fructose/glucose as they flared another AI condition I had, Ulcerative Colitis. With celiac developing other AI issues, Sibo, Candida, etc all more common in occurrence will lead to issues with sugars and or carbs that can be broken down into said sugars in the gut. One of the reasons I push a Paleo, Keto, or Atkins diet at people recovering to hit as many birds as possible in one go.

What’s your thoughts about the low fodmap diet? I’ve been considering it.

I have done it with a paleo/keto base, bit more strict, the big bonus are removing garlic, onions, that can give many people problems at first til the gut repairs some. Depending on your list I have a few arguments when I have tried it. -_- I found list that put almond on it as a food to avoid, plain/roasted/ground into a plain butter no additives, I see no issue with it. About my only complaint I recall from it....flavoring with safer herbs and more subtle flavorings took some getting used to in my cooking instead of the garlic, onions, peppers, I was using. Got to admit the diet seemed to make me feel better, and I have implemented pulsing into the the diet a bit more.

      Hi there, My daughter was diagnosed less than a year ago and we were prescribed iron supplements to treat her deficiency. The problem is it’s making her poo very frequently and dark black. She’s still in nappies and goes to preschool. Does their bowel get used to the supplements or will this continue? Thanks!

      People with coeliac disease tend to have lower systolic blood pressure. However symptoms vary greatly between people and there are multiple cases in the literature of hypertension in people diagnosed with coeliac disease that gradually reverses on a strict gluten-free diet.

      Thank you  for your reply. To be honest I am just surmising that it is riosacia, I have been using Vaseline but not helping much. If I find something that’s works I will forward the information.

      Found this: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26830864/ Shows an association between rosacea and celiac disease as well as other autoimmune disorders.

      Yes the journey here has been a long one. Is there any reason to continue to check blood antibody levels in the future? mine had not gotten to negative or zero yet . Thanks for all the great information! I will check out these supplements and hopefully start feeling better !!
