My Kids' Results Are In

On one hand I'm relieved that they're all negative, although I do understand that the testing doesn't rule celiac disease out in the future. I'lm still wondering why 3 of them have ongoing, but minor, digestive problems - they eat REALLY healthy, drink lots of water and get regular exercise, all things that are supposed to keep the systems running smoothly. One daughter has an auto-immune problem (vitiligo) and one son has a bed-wetting problem that he can't outgrow and they both have horrible gas and frequent stomach aches. My son is already off milk and we have tried that with all the kids, but no one else seems to have a problem with it.

So I think I'll just not worry for now.

Liz

You might want to consider doing a Total Elimination Diet. Your kids may have food allergies/sensitivities which can cause gastro distress and bedwetting. www.askdrsears.com is a good place to start on info for a "ted".

If you have been diagnosed positive by a medical doctor, I just read an article in the new living without magazine the other day that recommend testing your children every 2 years for Celiac. They may not be currently producting antibodies, but may in the future.

My daughters test came back neg and so did mine. however we have both gone gluten-free and are feeling much better! Most of our symptoms are gone now! I would suggest trying gluten-free with them to see if it helps. My symptoms were stomach discomfort and a few other things but my daughter had really bad bms. Gluten issues could be causing that.

Hello, I was very stick,  with flu like symptoms, but my virus panel came back negative and we couldn’t figure out what’s going on. The doctor then added a celiac panel.  Has anyone ever had such a dramatic change?  What are the odds this is true celiac I am going to have an endoscopy, but it’s expensive and I just feel like why can’t the labs be enough?

Eating out in general is full of risks, but this article may help:

This kind of question is always difficult to give a definitive answer to because of so many variables. One such variable is the sensitivity of the individual celiac to small amounts of gluten cross contamination. An amount that causes a reaction in one celiac many not in another, or at least not be discernable which, of course, does not exactly equate to being "safe".

I don't live in the US, but based on this thread, I wouldn't risk it:   https://www.reddit.com/r/glutenfree/comments/1n2ehw8/cracker_barrel/   This app is helpful: https://www.findmeglutenfree.com/

I see that Cracker Barrel restaurants have a gluten free menu (not all locations, but one confirmed that they do). I was wondering if it is safe for my 5 year old son with celiac disease?
