We have an appointment with an allergist on the 30th and an appointment for the upper and lower endoscopy on 1/4. I'm hoping we can avoid the endo all together. I spoke to the gi doc yesterday and asked what he was looking for and he said celiac and inflammation, but said he did not expect to find much. So my question is why do it at all. Is it the money or is there a very real medical purpose for this procedure? As I've stated in the past, I really don't want my son to endure this if he doesn't have to. And thanks to all who responded to my last post. I wasn't on at all yesterday. It was very hectic and I didn't have a minute to myself. Thanks in advance.

the biopsy is the gold standard for diagnosing celiac disease, since *technically* celiac disease is defined as having intestinal damage from glute. it's useful in order to be able to see how damaged the intestines are and how serious malabsorption issues may be because of that. but that doesn't mean you *have* to have one. plenty of us on here are dx'ed from blood tests alone, or dietary challenge results.

Is there a minimum time since diagnosis of refractory celiac disease?  I really hope I’m not eligible for your study, but looking for it is one reason my gastroenterologist suggested an endoscopy. I’m having it later this month, due to still having GI symptoms on a strict gluten free diet.

There's a company called thistle subscription based food completely gluten free plant based. They offer juices, juice shots. I was wondering has anyone made their own juices shots for anti inflammatory gut healthy juices etc?

If you prepare gluten free and eat  gluten free but feel stomach pains hours later what makes it gluten contamination vs. something else you may have ate etc? anything to differentiate in symptoms? Thanks

Anyone diagnosed with Refractory Coeliac Disease can participate (they do not need to be in the UK but would need to be able to speak and understand English as the intervention is facilitated in English language)

Is this only for those in the UK, or can anyone diagnosed with celiac disease participate?
