Fun near almost CC stories?

Hey there!

I went to a friends place that is super out of the way to make music, I am still healing and can barely walk and have a ton of body pain, but thought "who cares, lets jam" I was all proud to come armed with my lunch and while we ate outside I turned my head to look at the gorgeous fall leaves rustling in the sun. I turned back to eat my vegan/low fodmap/soy,lactose & gluten free (bloody specific) lunch only to discover my friends cat not only eating my food with his gluten tongue, but one paw inside my tupperware and other paw on my fork, it was really hilarious. Yeah it really sucked, but it was funny.

CC in this case was Cat Contamination.

Although I don't find the stupid gluten jokes that comedians tell funny at all, I was thinking hearing funny stories from each other could be fun! Any others?

Hope you are all well!

When my daughter started preschool 15 years ago, she had already been Gluten-free Casein-free for 2+ years. We patiently explained the whole story to the teacher: she can't eat anything not provided by us without Mom's prior approval (which was seldom granted), etc.

Mom visited the classroom on day 2 as a once-a-week volunteer. She discovered the entire class enjoying a sensory experimentation day: touching and feeling lots of different household materials to experience and understand them. Our daughter was covered from hair to pants with...wheat flour. Play-Doh was at the next station.

After a short panic, Mom washed her off with a washcloth and changed her clothes. Daughter had not ingested anything because she was well trained, although it was miraculous she didn't breath enough in, or just lick her lips. We learned that day that her sensitivity did not extend to skin contact.

We laugh about it now...

davemill,

OMG the poor dear! Thankfully your daughter has great parents.

I am happy to hear you laugh about this now :) I am also glad your daughter was diagnosed early.

Thanks for your story. If I don't laugh at some celiac related things I am afraid that I will become a curmudgeon ! It is such a frustrating disease to have, always explaining, educating, not being taken seriously, being in pain, so many symptoms etc etc.

Have a great evening/day depending where you are!

I'm sorry for your pain. Regarding the rest, the physicist Richard Feynman wrote a great book, "Open Original Shared LinkIt's very much in the spirit of your topic here, actually.

Yes, it would make sense to go mostly gluten free, since it gives your troubles.

Yes, I made an effort to eat extra gluten at least 3 weeks before the endoscopy. I probably ate a some amount in the weeks before that. I had diarrhea, which resolved once I cut back after the endoscopy. So I think it would make sense to go mostly gluten free?

Yay for the normal biopsy! Thanks for the follow up. Were you eating gluten prior to the endoscopy?

I think that with the elevated antibodies found in past tests, and a negative biopsy, you are firmly in the NCGS camp. If symptoms go away on a gluten-free diet it would be confirmation that you should likely stay on the diet.

Just to follow up on this, a year later I had endoscopy, the result was mild chronic gastritis, the initial endoscopy looked normal and the biopsy was normal.
