DH triggers by antibiotics?

Hi new here. I have suffered from DH since I was a teen. Never had a positive diagnosis for DH. Even the derm I saw a few years ago during a bad flare said it was dermatitis/excema with a secondary infection. Treated with cortisteroid and or tetracycline which if course made it worse as soon as I stopped treatment.  Here’s the weird thing. Last two flare ups started during the course of taking prescription of antibiotics for an infection.  Both times I’ve checked and the drugs are supposedly gluten-free. But maybe they lower my bodies natural ability to protect against cross contamination or the occasional accidental ingestion?

the worst part is I get my DH on my face so I can’t hide it. Starts at the outside corners of my nostrils and spreads down my labial facial folds and then across my chin if it progresses to a full on flare. So essentially I have DH goatee. Nice. ?

Anyone have similar? And also I’ve never had dapsone I’m going to clinic to ask. The feeling of the flare up is almost worse than how it looks. It’s driving me crazy with the itchy burn.

I suspect that I had a gluten exposure from three courses of antibiotics for a tooth infection even though I did everything to ensure it was gluten free (pharmacist, called manufacturer, etc.)  of course, no proof.

I hope you figure it out.

If you have hemorrhoids 1x weekly I don't see how you have time to heal from one episode before you experience another one, unless each one is a very minor event. Have you consulted a physician about your hemorrhoid issue? It's not normal to be having an episode every week unless it is really one episode that is not completely healing between weekly flareups.

No I haven't had one since 2021. I rarely have more than 1 per week.

Sorry, I see that now as I reread your original post. You say you have hemorrhoids "only once a week" now. When I develop hemorrhoids, which is once every few years now, it generally takes 3-4 days for healing to take place. So, it doesn't seem like you could have much relief time between episodes if you have them weekly. Have you had a lower GI scoping done recently?

Everyday I eat a medium to large apple in the morning and a large banana at night. I eat a cup of oatmeal in the evening. The ezekiel wheat bread I eat has a good amount of fiber. I haven't dealt with constipation for at least a year. Most of the time my feces are soft.
