Does anybody know of any jelly beans other than Jelly Bellys that are gluten free? Every brand I've looked at contains modified food starch.

Love the Jelly Bellys but they're so darned expensive!

The modified food starch is USUALLY corn, it's supposed to be corn in the US, unless otherwise declared.

We have gotten Just Born Jelly Beans (all Just Born Candies are supposed to be gluten-free, my husband verified via e-mail with them last year), Starburst Jelly Beans and Jolly Rancher Jelly Beans those are both Kraft and Kraft will clearly label if there is any Wheat, Barley, Rye or Oats... so enjoy!

Wow. Thank you so much!

I was in the grocery store last night looking at the Starburst jelly beans because I thought I had read that they were gluten free, but the modified food starch scared me off. I just bought some Peeps and called it a night <_<

You've eaten them with no ill effects?

Jelly beans are my absolute favorite candy of all time...

You know what's weird?

I never eat Jelly Beans nor do I care for them that much.

Last night, I had a dream that I was in a room full of Jelly Beans and I was eating them (except for the black ones) -- My roommate came in and said, "Chris, why are you eating those, are they gluten free?"

I responded by pelting him with several Jelly Beans and loudly boasting that "I don't care, If I want Jelly Beans, I will eat Jelly Beans..."

Dreams are so weird -- I'm sure this one describes the angst I have subconciously with the gluten-free diet, but its still funny...

p.s. I told my roommate abou the dream and he just stared at me and then left the room...

LOL about your dream! That is too funny!

Yes I've eaten the Starburst and the Jolly Rancher jelly beans with no ill effects whatsoever. My daughter eats the Starburst ones on a fairly regular basis, and I am newly addicted to the Jolly Rancher ones.

I am very severe and have eaten both the starburst and sweet tart jelly beans I called about them the other day and they varrified to me that the Sweet Tart jelly beans are Gluten Free so enjoy and the modified food startch is just corn! EAT UP!

I eat Dare gumdrops, jujubes, and jellybeans. They are gluten-free, at least in Canada.

good luck! vital wheat gluten made me violently ill. I will touch the stuff ever again.

I wouldn't consider this lucky. I can NOT tolerate the symptoms. And I googled it and I was not even getting 10 grams of gluten per day and I was extremely ill. They'd have to put me in the hospital. I'm not kidding.   I will have my first appt with a GI dr on March 4th   I will not eat gluten again - at least not on purpose   they are going to have to come up with a test that doesn't require it.

What Thiamine Hydrochloride brand do you take? Is it like the other vitamins I have added? What brand Tryptophan and amount do you take. Thanks

I would not think store bought yogurt would contain gluten unless it possibly could be through an added flavoring or coloring ingredient. Otherwise, it should be naturally gluten free.  Keep in mind that some companies are capitalizing on people's fears and ignorance (nothing personal intended) by labeling foods "gluten free" that are just that way by the nature of what they are. They are hoping to create a marketing edge over their competitors by adding "gluten free" because they know it may catch attention of those new to the celiac/gluten sensitivity experience without having to cost them anything in the way of changing their manufacturing process or doing testing.

I believe the GFCO does use a common logo for certified gluten free products (those containing not more that 10ppm of gluten) but nothing universal yet from the FDA for standard gluten free products (those containing not more that 20ppm).
