My Enterolab Results

My antigliadin IgA was positive. Transglutaminase IgA was normal. I gathered that this means I have an active gluten intolerance, but not Celiac. I feel relieved and validated that I finally have some sort of diagnosis! I am also relieved that I was normal for the casein antibody test! I'm still taking it easy with milk for now, though....

My results bring up another conundrum:

I have copies of HLA-DQ2 from each parent. This means that each of my 3 daughters must have at least one gene. Only one of them is symptomatic (always complaining about something hurting, and very thin and small for her age at 11 yrs. old). My husband and I decided that the whole family would go gluten free because we don't want to take a chance that damage might be occurring even in the absence of symptoms. Since my blood tests and biopsy were negative, I feel a visit to the doctor for them isn't going to tell me anything conclusive. I could order the gluten sensitivity test for each of them, but if it's normal now, how do I know how often I need to retest? Just wait for symptoms? Pay for the test every year?

Has anyone else made the decision for their children to go gluten free based on the gene test and nothing else? I don't want to "ruin" their childhood with gluten free obsessiveness (especially for the 2 that are feeling fine), but of course I want them to grow up healthy! Any comments?

Christine

Thank you that’s really helpful, hopeful won’t have to have a biopsy.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
