David.H 0 Posted November 2, 2020 Report This Post (To report rule violations to admin) Share Posted November 2, 2020 Which protein powders are ok for a celiac person? I know that whey powder and whey isolate are both naturally gluten-free and would therefore be ok. But, many are produced in the same environment / may contain traces... Do you drink those shakes even though they may contain traces?
trents 327 Posted November 2, 2020 Report This Post (To report rule violations to admin) Share Posted November 2, 2020 (edited) I use ON Gold Standaad Chocolate flavor100% Whey sold by Costco and Bob's Red Mill Soy Protein Isolate without any issues. They are both adverstised to be gluten-free. Of course, the problem with any question like this is how sensitive to trace amounts of gluten is the individual? We know now that the FDA 20 ppm standard for gluten free labeling is not not strict enough for some people. And then there is the issue with intolerances to dairy and soy and other common non gluten food groups due to damaged villi and dysfunctional immune systems that is the experience of many celiacs. So your question may not have a simple answer. Edited November 2, 2020 by trents
