Symptoms & False negative result

Hi all, I'm new here

Heres a background story: So for years now, I have been having fatigue and uncomfortable bloating after I eat which I had thought was normal.

I then found out about gluten intolerance through a friend who had similar symptoms. I had spoken with my dr. who booked a blood test in for me for celiac disease.

Just my 'luck' one of the three (i think) test tube blood samples had clotted before going into the lab machine meaning they couldn't only get accurate results and I have to get a repeat blood test. The result on the first tubes came back 'normal' except they found out I was anaemic (I assume this to be true but the blood test to be a false negative as the sample clotted)

The symptoms i've been having are: Bloating constantly and feeling uncomfortably full after a small amount of food, smelly gas, weak hair, weak nails, fluctuating weight, heavy periods, fatigue, short breath, brain fog, struggle to concentrate(ADHD), dry mouth, poop 1x a day and sometimes constipated and ofc anemia.

Currently waiting for next round of blood results, can anyone guide me on what to do if they come back normal and what steps I could take

You have classic symptoms of Celiac Disease but it could also be gluten intolerance. If the blood tests come back negative, pursue an endoscopy/biopsy of the small bowel lining which is the gold standard for diagnosing Celiac Disease. We do have some forum members who have had negative blood tests but positive endoscopy/biopsy. If all tests/endoscopy/biopsy come back negative, plan to switch to a gluten free diet and see if your symptoms improve. But it may take a few months for dramatic improvement.

Be sure that you've been eating gluten daily for at least 4-6 weeks before your blood tests.

Thank you that’s really helpful, hopeful won’t have to have a biopsy.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
