Does this sound like a gluten issue?

I have been wondering for years if I need to be gluten free but every time I go to the doctor they tell me no don't do that. I have had a celiac blood test twice (negative... Last time was a few years ago though). I feel so bad at the moment though that it is getting to the point that I don't know what else to do.

Some of my symptoms over the last 10 years have been:

Hypothyroid diagnosis, bad fluid retention in legs, puffy weight gain (a lot), infertility, miscarriages, hormone issues, skin rashes, muscle pain all over, every day I wake up with a sore back, Low iron, low vitamin d, foggy brain, headaches, stingy eyes, tinnitus, puffy red face sometimes after eating, not sleeping well, anxiety and depression, some hair loss, reflux, liver issues, sugar cravings etc... There are probably more things...

Maybe it's not celiac or gluten intolerance as the doctors said... Maybe I'm just unlucky haha.... I have both genes 2 and 8.

I need to know I'm not crazy as I'm starting to worry about not being able to work soon if this continues. I already have such trouble walking that I feel I am no fun anymore.

I have wanted to ask on this forum for ages but felt like maybe I was just over thinking.

Does it sound like celiac/a gluten issue or am I just on the way out haha 😊

Thank you

So one issue with how celiac disease is diagnosed is that the cut off levels in blood tests that define positive vs. negative results may miss cases of celiac disease. Many in this forum try gluten-free diets for some time before their tests are completed, thus might test negative when they would have tested positive had they eaten gluten daily before the tests. Feel free to share your blood test results if you have them, as they may reveal gluten issues that could at least mean non-celiac gluten sensitivity.

If you are both DQ2 and DQ8 positive, like I am, it certainly puts you in a higher risk category than just having one of those markers.

To me, the real test would be if your symptoms improve on a gluten-free diet, which would indicate gluten sensitivity (no current tests can confirm NCGS). You certainly have nothing to lose by trying this approach, but be sure your diet is 100% gluten-free. This article might be helpful, and let us know how things go:

Thank you for your reply, I really appreciate it. My blood results are unfortunately packed in a box but I will read the link you sent me and go from there. Thank you again 😊

Thanks for your response.  Everything you mentioned he is and has been doing.  Tobacco is not the same as nicotine.  Nicotine, in the form of a patch, does not cause gastrointestinal irritation.  Smoking does. He is not smoking.  Please do your research before stating false information. Dr. Paul Newhouse has been doing research on nicotine the last 40 years at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Im so frustrated and still getting the run around trying to reprove my celiac disease which my past primary ignored for 25 years.I understand that theres a ray of medical that doctors are limited too but not listening and telling the patient ( me) that im not as sensitive as I think and NOT celiac!Correction Mr white coat its not what I think but for cause and affect and past test that are not sticking in my medical records.I get sick violently with foods consumed, not eating the foods will show Im fabulous. After many blood draws and going through doctors I have the HLA- DQ2 positive which I read in a study that Iran conducted that the severity in celiac is in that gene.Im glutenfree and dealing with related issues which core issue of celiac isn't addressed. My skin, right eye, left leg diagestive issues affected. I have high blood pressure because im in pain.Im waisting my time on trying to reprove that Im celiac which is not a disease I want, but unfortunately have. It  has taken over my life personally and professionally. How do I stop getting medically gaslight and get the help needed to bounce back if I ever do bounce back to normal? I thought I was in good care with " celiac specialist " but in her eyes Im good.Im NOT.Sibo positive, IBS, Chronic Fatigue just to name a few and its all related to what I like to call a ghost disease ( celiac) since doctors don't seem to take it seriously.

@Martha Mitchell, your reaction to the lens implant with gluten sounds like it could be an allergic reaction rather than a celiac reaction. It is possible for a celiac to be also allergic to gluten as it is a protein component in wheat, barley and rye.

Scott I also have different symptoms than most people. It affects me bad. Stomach ache, headache, nauseous, heart racing, whole body shaking, can't walk then my throat starts to close. It attacks my nervous system. The only thing that saves me is a 1/2 of Xanax...it calms down my nervous system
