Malabsorption is typically due to ineffective enzymatic digestion or too fast a passage of foods through the intestine.  Watch your blood calcium levels.  Prolonged low calcium caused a parathyroid adenoma to develop.  In 2009 my vitamins and supplements were full of wheat so the condition only worsened until surgery became necessary.

Uh, since I have recurring kidney stones I also have my calcium levels checked regularly.  I don't eat ANYTHING that lists wheat, barley, rye as an ingredient and avoid those. And for things that don't list ingredients, I google for them and if there is no info, I don't take it.

That's sounds good.  It would have been helpful if the information that is now forthcoming concerning food & supplement ingredients had been readily available 12 years ago.  I wish you well Auldtwa.

Found an article about low thiamine (Vitamin B1) level and oxalates.

https://www.hormonesmatter.com/marginally-insufficient-thiamine-intake-oxalates/

And another on Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) can prevent kidney stones.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/10203369/

A good B Complex vitamin supplement should be a part of your diet.

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
