Anyone else on here have random SVT, palpitations or consistently elevated heart rate? just wondering if this could be a gluten or celiac thing?

Yes but they don’t know why. Ct scans have always been normal. Then they tell me its anxiety or in my head and to see a therapist. Going to try a functional medicine doc this week after going in for all the normal work ups today.

Do you have celiac disease or a gluten intolerance?

I'm no cardiologist or even a physician of any kind but I do know that a couple of the spinoffs of celiac disease can be: 1. anemia and 2. neurological problems. Have you been officially diagnosed with a gluten-related disorder?

Officially as gluten intolerance but I have positive celiac antibodies so I really think its celiac disease but I was misdiagnosed / told wrong

Ginger, my question was intended for the OP, Katie munos. Apparently, you and I were posting about the same time and you beat me to it by a smidgen.

No, my bad! I was wrong about Katie being the OP. Sorry for the confusion.

I definitely had heart palpitations as a symptom before I went gluten-free, and they sometimes led to panic attacks, and emergency room visits. I do believe the symptoms happened first, which led to the panic, so the heart symptoms were not psychological in nature, which is what some doctors tried to tell me. This category has summaries of studies done on celiac disease and heart issues:

Thank you!! Can I ask,  once you went completely gluten free, no cheating and all that, how long did it take for your symptoms like to completely resolve or did they?

Scott Adams Grand Master

This particular symptom resolved within the first few months of going gluten-free, but came back if I got gluten in my diet by accident during the first 1-2 years of going gluten-free. I haven't had the symptom at all after my first 2 year GF time period.

Good to know, thanks! I've been trying really hard to stay gluten-free yet my stomach look and still feels glutened. I guess the healing is probably a long process after years of damage 🤷

Hi Ginger! I also had heart problems when I was eating gluten, the cardiologist found nothing. It was palpitations at times, but also sometimes like a premature ventricular contraction. They went away a couple of months after completely ditching gluten and chocolate, this last food gives me the same symptoms as gluten :(((. I’ve tried reintroducing it separately and no, my body doesn’t like it.

hope you solve your issues soon :)))

Why is it so hard to give up gluten?? I do so good and I fall ... All the time 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦

trents Grand Master

One answer is that gluten is addictive: https://thefnc.com/research/gluten-and-dairy-are-like-addictive-drugs-to-the-brain/#:~:text=Gluten and dairy cause opioid, cold turkey off these foods. Some people struggle more than others with those kinds of things.

yes, i had SVT, went gluten free and no more issues.  celiac disease caused malabsorption of vitamins, which in turn caused anemia. which caused the SVT. my cardiologist uses me as a reference point now when he has a strange case present itself. took a few months to resolve, but it's gone now.

You said you went to the ER? Any specific reason? I had another episode yesterday and ended up in the ER myself. I’m scared to death now that it’s going to happen again. It’s like the anxiety feeds the SVT. And yes I must admit I have fallen again recently and had actually eaten gluten yesterday. My heart rate was super high and had palpitations. All my tests were ok

Scott Adams Grand Master

As mentioned, my symptoms included heart palpitations and vertigo that seemed to feed into panic attacks. Once I was gluten-free for a few weeks or months those symptoms went away.

Clearly ER visits are expensive, so if you're still getting gluten in your diet that is causing you to go to the ER it would be worthwhile to be sure your diet is 100% a gluten-free. This would also help you to avoid the many health issues associated with untreated celiac disease, like a higher intestinal cancer risk.

They both do.  The peanuts add nutrients to the treat. Tootsie Roll: Sugar, Corn Syrup, Palm Oil, Condensed Skim Milk, Cocoa, Whey, Soy Lecithin, Artificial and Natural Flavors. But M&M's contain milk, and would not be at all like a Tootsie Roll.

I appreciate you validating me because medical is an issue and it's not ok at all they they do this. Some days I just want to call the news media and just call out these doctors especially when they are supposed to be specialist Downplaying when gluten-free when they should know gluten-free is false negative. Now dealing with other issues and still crickets for disability because I show no signs of celiac BECAUSE IM GLUTENFREE! Actively dealing with sibo and skin issues.Depression is the key because thats all they know, im depressed because medical has caused it because of my celiac and related issues. I should have never ever been employed as a bus driver. After 3 years still healing and ZERO income desperately trying to get better but no careteam for celiac other than stay away frim wheat! Now im having care because my head is affected either ms or meningioma in go in tomorrow again for more scans.I know im slowly dying and im looking like a disability chaser

M&M Peanuts. About the same calories and sugar while M&M Peanuts have fiber, potassium, iron and protein that Tootsie Rolls ("We are currently producing more than 50 million Tootsie Rolls each day.") don't. Click the links to compare nutritional values.  Both are made with sugar, not high fructose corn syrup.  I use them as a gluten free substitute for a peanut butter sandwich.  Try her on grass fed, pasture fed milk. While I get heartburn at night from commercial dairy milk, I do not from 'grassmilk'.

I see it everyday on my feeds.  They go out and buy gluten-free processed products and wonder why they can't heal their guts.  I don't think they take it as a serious immune disease. They pick up things off the internet which is so far out in left field.  Some days I would just like to scream.  So much better when we had support groups and being able to teach them properly. I just had an EMA blood test because I haven't had one since my Doctor moved away.  Got test results today, doctor ordered a D3 vitamin test.  Now you know what  type of doctors we have.  Now I will have to pay for this test because she just tested my D3 end of December, and still have no idea about my EMA.
