I was diagnosed 1 month ago. My symptoms were constant and extreme bloating, constantly constipated, and anemia. I have so far stuck to gluten free completely as far as I am aware. I definitely don't feel any better, I actually think i feel worse. There have been 2 occasions where I've felt so poorly I have almost had to come home from work with abdo pain, nausea and fainting. Anyone else experienced similar? Am I just not there yet? When can i expect to feel better??

Welcome to the forum, Big Bob!

Studies show that most people who claim to be eating gluten-free are actually eating lower gluten. This is particularly true of those who still eat out where you have little or no control over cross contamination back in the kitchen. There is a significant educational process connected with eating truly gluten-free. Perhaps this primer will help you identify potential blind spots in your efforts to achieve a gluten-free lifestyle:

It often takes around two years for the damaged villi in the small bowel to heal completely, even when practicing a strict gluten-free lifestyle. However, you should start feeling better within weeks or months.

Also, it is common for celiacs to have developed other, non-gluten food intolerances that can mimic gluten reaction. Chief among them are dairy, oats and eggs. Are you still consuming these foods? You might take a look at that and try eliminating one of them at a time.

You should also be on some vitamin and mineral supplementation. Make sure all supplements are gluten-free. Take a high potency B-complex, 5000IU of D3, magnesium glycinate. Adding a separate sublingual B12 might als0 be wise in view of your anemia. Don't fear taking too many of the B vitamins. They are water soluble and any excess is peed out. Nutritional deficiencies go hand in hand with celiac disease because of the damage to the villi, which is where all nutrients are absorbed.

Thank you so much, really useful info to know. I think I was initially so relieved that there was a solution to how rough i was feeling that I hoped I would just feel really good after a few weeks, so its a bit disheartening to find its no where near as simple as, cut out gluten and feel better. Theres much more to learn I see.

Thank you again, I will look into what you have suggested.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.

To evaluate the TTG antibody result we’d need to know the normal range for that lab.  Labs don’t all use the same units.  However, based on any normal ranges that I’ve seen and the listed result being greater than a number rather than a specific number, I’d say yes, that is high! Higher than the range where the test can give a quantitative result. You got good advice not to change your diet yet.  If you went gluten free your intestines would start to heal, confusing any further testing,
