How do you clean Keurig Machine to remove any potential cross contamination from prior use

Should I worry about my Keurig Machine that was used for some flavored k-cups years ago, in which I currently only brew unflavored coffee? If so, is there a special method to completely clean it to remove any potential traces? I do not have Celiacs, but my new girlfriend is super vigilant about x-contamination (wisely so!), and I've 'drunk the Kool-Aid' and am following her lead. In addition, to help ensure she has zero exposure from me, when brands say their k-cups are gluten-free but do not mention cross-contamination, should I still avoid them in case I'm hoping to get a few smooches that evening?! 🙂

Here is a gluten free k cup coffee: https://www.amazon.com/Donut-Café-Single-Brewers-Classic/dp/B095F8GRL9/ref=sr_1_18?crid=W09BUTUU243X&keywords=gluten+free+k+cups&qid=1690036220&sprefix=gluten+free+k+cups%2Caps%2C151&sr=8-18

I found it by doing a quick search in Amazon. There may be others but I didn't take much time with it. Anther option would be to purchase a bag or can of gluten free coffee and brew it using one of those reusable wire baskets made for Keurig coffee makers.

Descaling with vinegar/water mix should remove any traces of gluten. There are tons of tutorials online for doing this.

If you are still consuming gluten you need to realize you can "gluten" your girlfriend via kissing (saliva) if you engage with her that way shortly after you have eaten a gluten-containing meal. I would worry about that more than cross contamination from coffee.

From the very limited research I did on Keurig cups on Amazon, the only ingredients listed in the plain coffee versions are "Coffee" so they are likely gluten-free and would not contaminate the machine. It's very nice of you to clean it for her though, and as mentioned by @trents, cleaning the machine is not too hard to do.

It looks like their most recent clinical trial just finished up on 5-22-2025.

Dear Scott,  please check the link https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT05574010?intr=KAN-101&rank=1 What do you think about it?

KAN‑101 is still very much in development and being actively studied. It has not been dropped—rather, it is advancing through Phases 1 and 2, moving toward what could become the first disease‑modifying treatment for celiac disease. https://anokion.com/press_releases/anokion-announces-positive-symptom-data-from-its-phase-2-trial-evaluating-kan-101-for-the-treatment-of-celiac-disease/

Thiamine interacts with all the other B vitamins.  Thiamine and B 6 make a very important enzyme together. With more thiamine and other vitamins available from the supplements your body is absorbing the ones you need more of.  The body can control which vitamins to absorb or not.  You're absorbing more and it's being transported through the blood.   It's common to have both a Thiamine and a Pyridoxine deficiency.  Keep taking the B Complex. This is why it's best to stop taking supplements for six to eight weeks before testing vitamin levels.

Yes I took a supplement that had B6 in it, low dosage though. I've stopped taking that. B1 doesn't affect other B vitamin levels?
