B12 deficiency?

I stopped taking my b12 tablets and vitamin D tablets and I’m wondering if this is what’s causing my sudden nausea in the mornings & toilet issues… has anyone had this problem since being diagnosed?

Could have been that salsa.  Could take a few days for things to settle down.

Do you have any oolong tea?  It's very soothing to irritated intestines.  Oolong tea has the amino acid L-Theanine which helps increase serotonin and dopamine, the feel good neurotransmitters.

Are you taking a B Complex?  B12 is just one of eight essential B vitamins.  Just taking one can throw the others out of balance.

I’m not sure due to the nausea only happening in the mornings and noticed it had gone while I was taking the b12 and D tablets, I got put on lansoprazole for acid reflux but I’m just not sure it’s agreeing with my stomach, so don’t think I’m going to take it anymore, my acid reflux must of been from exposure to the nightshade foods I was eating so I’m just going to try cut the nightshade foods out and see if that settles my acid reflux instead

I will give that tea a go though! Willing to try anything this nausea is absolutely awful, I did read up that when your low in b12 you can get nausea from it, just so hard knowing what’s causing all this

I'm glad you're off the lansoprazole.  Acid reflux (Gerd) is really caused by low stomach acid (hypochlorhydria).  So taking a proton pump inhibitor that suppresses stomach acid secretion makes things worse.  Plus PPI's can make intestinal damage worse.

Low Niacin Vitamin B3 can cause hypochlorhydria.  (Niacinamide is the nonflushing form of Niacin you might prefer with upset tummy.)

My acid reflux went away after I started supplementing with Niacin and the other B vitamins.  They all work together, so they all should be supplemented.  Extra Thiamine Hydrochloride or Benfotiamine helps get rid of the nausea.  Benfotiamine has been scientifically shown to improve intestinal health.

Are you eating enough liver, eggs and red meat to meet your Choline needs?  Choline is essential to digestion of fats.   Symptoms of low choline are often mistaken for gall bladder disease because choline is the major ingredient in bile.  Phoshatidylcholine is also the major part of mitochondrial membrane and is needed to make acetylcholine for nerve transmission.  I used to take Alka Selzter several times a week.  Since staying consistently taking 840 mg a day of Phoshatidylcholine I have not needed it.

Gastrointestinal Reflux Disease - A Naturopathic Approach   "Higher doses of choline are needed for the treatment of GERD; therefore, supplementation with phosphatidylcholine is the best option in comparison to food sources."

Vegan diets are low in both Choline and B12 so they need to be supplemented if you believe as we've been exhorted to avoid liver, eggs and red meat.  It takes 3 eggs a day to reach RDA of choline, or you could eat 10 cups a day of brocolli or brussel sprouts.

Even though my vitamin D plasma is at the homeostasis level of

80 ng/ml (tested four times a year), if I stop taking my daily 10.000 IU a day for any length of time I get reclusive.  First sign is that I get annoyed when the phone rings.  I've done it many times over the past 10 years and each time, once I realize it. it takes a few days to get my mood up again.

Welcome to the  forum @maylynn! Have you had a follow-up endoscopy/biopsy of the small bowel to check for healing of the villous lining? If not, it's about time one was done. As Scott mentioned, I also wonder if you have food intolerances in addition to gluten. Oats (even gluten free oats), dairy, soy, corn and eggs are some of the most common ones in the celiac community.

Is your gluten-free diet strict? Do you eat out in restaurants? If so, you could be getting contamination, and over time that can slow recovery. You may want to get a follow up celiac disease antibody panel done to make sure that your levels have gone down since your last tests. Also, have you had various nutrient levels checked via a blood test, and have you been taking vitamin & mineral supplements since your diagnosis?  The most common nutrient deficiencies associated with celiac disease that may lead to testing for the condition include iron, vitamin D, folate (vitamin B9), vitamin B12, calcium, zinc, and magnesium.    Do you still have celiac disease symptoms?  Many people with celiac...

Hello!  I am here as a last result, hoping for some advice, similar stories, etc. When I was 17, I was diagnosed with Celiac disease. By the time we figured it out my iron levels were so low I had to get infusions, and I had lost 20lbs. in two weeks going from a 5'11 130lbs woman to a 110 lbs. Now, I am 21 and have gained 4 lbs since. Every time I eat a meal, I get three bites in and feel so full that I feel sick. I can't eat a full meal. Something else has to be wrong right? This can't just be more "normal" right? I have done test after test and no doctor in my area can figure anything else out. They have told me I most likely have shrunken my stomach by now with how little I am eating so that has to do...

Thank you so much, Scott. I find it incredibly daunting navigating this celiac space and I find comfort in your wealth of knowledge. Thank you 🙏🏻
