Hi all, 

im currently struggling with many foods and drinks at the moment. I have come to the conclusion I cannot have any gluten, dairy but I’ve also realised I can’t have any soya either so my alternatives are very few. 
 

I haven’t been diagnosed because I figured this out before the test and cut all foods that I can’t eat, when I can help it out before the test so I had a negative result. 
 

i know damn well it’s something not right, as when I have gluten I get breathless, brain fog and arms etc ache, I’ve got a manual labour job and it really affects me if I do step out of line with my diet. as for dairy, It gives me extreme fatigue and sometimes really bad anxiety - same for coffee too. I can’t seem to drink it, just seems my body is packing in on me and I’m only 35. 

I’m at my wits end with it all, just scared to eat or drink anything these days!

Many people with celiac disease, especially those who are in the 0-2 year range of their recovery, have additional food intolerance issues which could be temporary. To figure this out you may need to keep a food diary and do an elimination diet over a few months.

Some common food intolerance issues are dairy/casein, eggs, corn, oats, and soy. The good news is that after your gut heals (for most people who are 100% gluten-free this will take several months to two years) you may be able to slowly add some these items back into your diet after the damaged villi heal.

      Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute.
