Gluten-free Alcoholic Beverages

The FAQ lists whiskey as a forbidden beverage. However other sources on gluten-free diets (WebMD and the Mayo Clinic sites) state wine, liquor (including whiskey and brandy), liqueurs, and alchoholic ciders are gluten-free! The sources of this info say all gluten products used in whiskey are killed in the distilling process.

I have been using the WebMD gluten-free diet which references the New England Journal of Medicine and the Gastrointestinal and Liver Disease journals.

I had a couple of single malt whiskey drinks a week ago with no ill effects. Some people may feel this is no big deal, but others do not want to be misled into not being able to enjoy certain drinks for the remainder of their lives!

Don, be very careful with gluten because even if you don't get sick, you could be doing damage to your body, possibly irrepairable damage. The following beverages are gluten free to the very best of my knowledge:

Woodchuck Hard Cider

Jack Daniels Black Label

Makers Mark Whiskey

Seagram's 7 Crown Whiskey

Skyy Vodka (Regular, Orange, Melon, Spiced, Vanilla, Berry, Citrus)

Jose Cuervo Tequila Clasico

Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum

Captain Morgan Parrot Bay Rum (coconut, mango, pineapple, passion fruit)

Bacardi Party Drinks

Disaronno

Drambuie

Gordon's Gin

Clear Creek Distillery Brandy (Kirschwasser, Blue Plum, Williams Pear)

Martini & Rossi Asti Spumanti

I'm sure there are many others as well, these are just the ones that I've found. Most wines are also gluten free, but definitely check with the manufacturer before drinking them.

I was taking medicine for sibo but it was not agreeing with my stomach at all.Was on gabapentin but it amps me up.I was taking in morning because it wasn't allowing me to sleep. This has always been an issue with medicine and me.Even going to dentist, the good shot that numbs you once, I can't take because it makes my heart beat fast and I  get the shakes.I have to take the crappy stuff and get injected always more than 4 times always. Its infuriating

If you successfully digest gluten with enzyme supplements so it won’t give you side effects, your challenge won’t be worthwhile because the digested fragments of gluten also won’t stimulate antibody production or cause intestinal damage.

You can search this site for prescriptions medications, but will need to know the manufacturer/maker if there is more than one, especially if you use a generic version of the medication: To see the ingredients you will need to click on the correct version of the medication and maker in the results, then scroll down to "Ingredients and Appearance" and click it, and then look at "Inactive Ingredients," as any gluten ingredients would likely appear there, rather than in the Active Ingredients area. https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/
