Need Help Before My Son's Dr. Appt.

Hi, this is my first time posting here but I've been on board reading for some time now. I had neg. bloodwork last year and then I was test by EntroLab with my results being,

HLA-DQB1 0302, 0501

Antigliadin IgA 27 units

Antitissue Transglutaminase IgA 18 units

Fat score 55 units

anti-casein 24 units

I have finally convinced my 22 year old son to see a dr. (I will be going with him). He has been having stomach trouble ( vomiting almost every morning ) brain fog, fatigue, depression, anti-social behavior. He was diagnosed ADD in 7th grade. I know his blood work might be neg like mine was but at least we can start somewhere and the do the EntroLab if needed. I have been gluten free for 10 months and feel so much better. My symptoms were, chronic fatigue, fibro, brain fog and minor bowel issues. O.k., my question is this, what tests do I ask for? I would love to have him see my DR. who is a MD and holistic DR. but his insurance won't cover it.

Is he still on a normal glutenous diet? If he is have the doctor order the Celiac Panel. Its a bloodtest and if all the tests are run it will give you a good starting point. If anything comes back positive you may or may not want to proceed with a biopsy. Some people choose to just go ahead and begin the diet since the biopsy often gives false negatives. Heres the panel....make sure the doc orders all of them.

Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA

Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG

Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA

Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA

Total Serum IgA

Thanks Rachel, Yes he's still eating gluten and who knows what else as he doesn't live with me :)

The hard part will be no beer if he does test positive.

      Hello, I was very stick,  with flu like symptoms, but my virus panel came back negative and we couldn’t figure out what’s going on. The doctor then added a celiac panel.  Has anyone ever had such a dramatic change?  What are the odds this is true celiac I am going to have an endoscopy, but it’s expensive and I just feel like why can’t the labs be enough?

      Eating out in general is full of risks, but this article may help:

      This kind of question is always difficult to give a definitive answer to because of so many variables. One such variable is the sensitivity of the individual celiac to small amounts of gluten cross contamination. An amount that causes a reaction in one celiac many not in another, or at least not be discernable which, of course, does not exactly equate to being "safe".

      I see that Cracker Barrel restaurants have a gluten free menu (not all locations, but one confirmed that they do). I was wondering if it is safe for my 5 year old son with celiac disease?
