Silly Yak Bakery

Just wondering if anyone has ordered from this place before? They bake both reg. and gluten-free breads but clean the lines on Sat. to bake gluten-free items on Sunday. They regularly test for gluten and have not found any according to the owner. Whole Foods Bakehouse used to do that for a while before getting a ded. facility and when doing so they ran out of gluten-free items regularly since they only baked them once a day. Point being many people can and do eat food from non gluten-free facilities all the time. I'm award of cc issues so please don't take the time to explain it to me. I do not limit myself to ded. gluten-free manufacturers but I thought I'd see if anyone likes the Silly Yak Bakery stuff (if any of you have tried it) before placing an order.

For those of you who eat cheese, I just found out that Athenos feta cheese is owned by Kraft - it does not indicate that on the container. Like with all Kraft items, they clearly mark gluten in all forms. The Athenos garlic and herb feta is to die for in a salad or omelet. Also, Zattaran's seasonsings also will mark all forms of gluten on their labels. They make a corn meal batter for seafood among other things.

Can anyone recommend gluten-free orange juice? It seems as most every brand I've checked lately won't confirm it's gluten free. I know there must be plenty of gluten-free oj's out there but just not the ones I see at Publix. Even Publix brand of oj is not gluten free according to them.

I don't want to start a new topic about this but I just had Bi-Aglut gluten free pasta for the first time. It is made in Italy. It is better than Schar brand which is also made in Italy. I got mine from allergygrocer.com (Miss Roben's) but several sites carry it. It is about twice the cost of Tinkyada and in my opinion well worth it! The best gluten-free pasta I had before today was at Maggiano's restaurant and now I think they must use Bi-Aglut brand. To me this stuff tastes like wheat pasta - and without the side effects!

I have ordered from Silly Yak before. I live about 1hr from there. When my son has soccer tournaments in Madison, it is only 10 minutes away. They have great gluten-free items. I love the apple cinnamon bread. Also, I am not sure if they send out orders, but Molly's Gluten Free Bakery in Delafield, Wi is great too!!

Thanks! I will have to order some things from them when all my Chat. bakery stuff is gone. I'm picking up about a 2 month supply this weekend.

Cold/flu or gluten poisoning? Hello. I've had another similar episode. I find it very difficult to differentiate between the symptoms of a cold or flu and those caused by gluten poisoning. In fact, I don't know if my current worsening is due to having eaten something that disagreed with me or if the cold I have has caused my body, which is hypersensitive, to produce symptoms similar to those of gluten poisoning.

I'm no longer dealing with constipation. I got my liver test last month and it was in normal range. Two years ago I did have a vitamin D deficiency but I'm know taking vitamin D3 pills. Last month I got my vitamin D checked and it was in normal range. I don't believe I've had my choline checked. However, I do drink almond milk eat Greek yogurt on a daily basis.

Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (NCGS) can be associated with low ferritin and iron deficiency. Once Celiac Disease (1% of the population affected) has been ruled out by tests the next step is to check for Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (10% of the population affected) by eliminating gluten for a trial period, then re-introduce Gluten Challange. Have you been supplementing Iron? How are your liver enzymes? Low levels of ferritin indicate iron deficiency, while  59% transferrin saturation indicates high iron levels.  Possibly indicating Fatty Liver Disease.  Choline is crucial for liver health, and deficiency is a known trigger for Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver.  Some experts say that less than 10% eat the the Food and Nutrition Board established Adequate Intake that are based on the prevention of liver damage. Severe constipation and hemorrhoids may be linked to a bile or choline deficiency.  "Ninety-five percent of phospholipids (PLs) in bile is secreted as phosphatidylcholine or lecithin."  Fatty acid composition of phospholipids in bile in man   Deficiency of these bile salts causes the bile to get thick. Some people with Celiac Disease are misdiagnosed with Gall Bladder bile issues.  Removal of the gallbladder provides only temporary relief. Whether or not celiac disease or NCGS are your issues you need to look at your vitamin D blood level.

If you have hemorrhoids 1x weekly I don't see how you have time to heal from one episode before you experience another one, unless each one is a very minor event. Have you consulted a physician about your hemorrhoid issue? It's not normal to be having an episode every week unless it is really one episode that is not completely healing between weekly flareups.
