:D hello,

i'm a bit new to baking w/out gluten. in a few weeks i'll be going back to college, and i was wondering if it will be safe to bake and cook with my roommates' pots and pans if they are thoroughly washed between uses.

also, this unrelated, but do you guys have any luck substiuting honey for sugar in recipes? i've heard this can be done, and i want to cut back on refined sugars because i'm wary of candida.

You will be safe as long as they're kitchen items that can be cleaned thoroughly -- i.e. ceramic dishes, hard plastic dishes, silverware, stainless steel pots and pans. What you don't want to use is cast iron, non-stick, wooden spoons, etc.

I don't bake much so I don't know about replacing sugar with honey. I do know that honey is also a sugar that will feed yeast, even if it's better for you than regular white sugar.

You should be fine with plates, silverware, and stainless steal pots, just make sure that they are washed well and wash them twice if needed! I would stay away from baking pans or those teflon non stick frying pans since gluten could remain in the cracks and is hard to remove sometimes.

      Shingles is dormant and related to chicken pox when one has had in the past.Shingles comes out when stress is heightened.I had my 3rd Shingles in 2023.

      Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute.
