My Endoscopy Today....

I just got home, I'm resting - my head feels like it's about 10 feet above my shoulders - but I feel alright. And, my throat hurts a bit...but not too bad. It really was no big deal. Like Penguins experience... the IV was the worst part, and even that wasn't too bad.

I'm pretty frustrated by my results......

1. Esophageal Stricture (narrowed widening due to scaring of the esophagus

2. Hiatus Hernia (OMG)

3. Reflux Esophagitis

4. Duodenitis - patchy inflamation, erythema, & edema

Biopsies taken - results available in 1-2 weeks.

So, what do you guys think.... celiac or not? Based on the above information....

Needless to say... I've been placed on a very strict diet - eliminating all my favorite foods. Tomatoes (can I cry, seriously!), chocolate, peppermint, ANY fried foods, coffee (UGH), alcohol...etc. I have a whole lovely list of NoNO's along with the gluten-free diet recommendation.

Goodness gracious, I'm a MESS!!!

I'm so glad things went okay for you, no biggie huh? I had mine on the 15th and the iv was the worst part. lol. They found hiatul hernia during mine also, food was still in my stomach, and he said just by looking celiac, but we'd have to wait for results. 3 or 4 days later I knew for sure it was celiac. Hopefully you wont have to wait the whole 2 weeks, ugh! Glad all went okay for you...Julie

Happy to hear you're back home and did ok! :)

Aren't you glad that you had it done? These are things that you wouldn't have known otherwise.

If they don't call you by the day that they told you the biopsy results will be in, make sure to call them--my experience is that they're not so good about getting back to us!

Get some rest ;)

Yep, glad I had it done otherwise I would never have known how BAD my reflux was. I assumed that I just had normal everyday reflux. But, I have scarring! That's not good. =(

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
