...but to my Dr. credit she FAXed me a lab order (I work in a small rural hospital). I was able to go to the lab and have the blood drawn and out in 10 minutes (and that included registration...I guess there are a few perks). They send it up to Mayo Clinic so I will know in a couple of days.

My symptoms have been kind of hard to describe. Twitch itchy is the best. I did have a blistery rash that I figured was Athlete's foot and then when it appeared on my hands...poison ivy.

I have had scabby areas on my scalp...thought that was from a new shampoo.

Hope that I am not imagining things but I get "twinges" that I have to scratch.

Do these things go away if Gluten if eliminated? Please tell me yes.

I think I need to change my name to something more perky. Fiesta ware dishes are a big part of my life ...will look to see if there is a message board for non-celiac stuff. On the Fiesta board they call it "Coffeeshop".

      What foods can trigger a response in people with gluten sensitivity? I've read that there are foods that, although they don't contain gluten, can cause problems for people with gluten sensitivity because they contain proteins similar to gluten that trigger a response in the body. I've seen that other cereals are included: corn, rice... also chicken, casein. I would like to know what other foods can cause this reaction, and if you have more information on the subject, I would like to know about it. Right now, I react very badly to rice and corn. Thank you.

      Shingles is dormant and related to chicken pox when one has had in the past.Shingles comes out when stress is heightened.I had my 3rd Shingles in 2023.

      Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute.
