I can't find them on any list....

If they are not, does anyone know of any mints that are gluten free? I find eating mints helps me with the indigestion.....

And also, can you take Immodium and take Pepto Bismol at the same time?

Thanks!

Karen

Tic Tacs contain dextrin which is a questionable ingredient. You would have to contact the manufacturer to find out if the dextrin is derived from wheat. I have one list that has them on it, but I would still call to check if I were you. I believe Lifesavers are gluten-free.

Why would you need to take Pepto Bismol and Imodium at the same time?? If your symptoms are that bad that one or the other doesn't help, then I would suggest seeing your doctor about it.

God bless,

Mariann

Hi Mariann,

I think I will not take a chance with Tic Tac's..... I have already found a few contaminants that I recently eliminated and don't want to take any chances....

I go to see a Celiac specialist at St. Michael's here in Toronto on August 18th. I was referred to him by my GI dr. because the chronic diarrhea just won't go away. I find that Immodium slows it down a bit where I am only going 4 - 5 times a day instead of 12-14 times a day, but it is still diarrhea, nonetheless.... I was hoping maybe a double shot of Pepto Bismol and Immodium might help it along even more.....

Have a great day!

Karen

Mint, especially peppermint has been proven to help with digestion.

I chew the Dentyne cool mint gum - there are several flavors. I'm pretty sure all Dentyne gums are gluten-free.

Altoids are gluten-free

Altoids are gluten-free

I know :P I accidentally ate one once without even thinking about it--I really scared myself, but then found out they were gluten-free......close call

I think Tic Tacs are gluten-free; I thought I heard that somewhere; but don't chance it unless you've called the company.

I'm assuming the altoid gum is also gluten-free?

flagbabyds Collaborator

yes altoids gum are gluten-free, i wouldn't take immodium and pepto at teh same time, one or the other

tarnalberry Community Regular

wait! altoids gum is NOT gluten-free. It contains wheat maltodextrin. here's a direct reading of the ingredients:

Gum Base, Xylitol, Isomalt, Sorbitol, Mannitol, Gum Arabic, Oil of Peppermint, Natural Flavor, Artificial Color, Aspartame**, Acesulfame Potassium, Wheat Maltodextrin, Artificial Flavor, Carnauba Wax, **Phenylketonurics: Contains Phenylalanine

I was disappointed when I learned that. :-(

the cinnamon one diesn't have that, and I called them and they said it was gluten-free

I wouldn't take Pepto and Imodium together because sometimes if I've had a bad day and had to take the maximum Imodium allowed, I get severe stomach cramps, then diarrhea. Taking Pepto with it might make that worse. :P

If you have hemorrhoids 1x weekly I don't see how you have time to heal from one episode before you experience another one, unless each one is a very minor event. Have you consulted a physician about your hemorrhoid issue? It's not normal to be having an episode every week unless it is really one episode that is not completely healing between weekly flareups.
    • Churro
No I haven't had one since 2021. I rarely have more than 1 per week.

Sorry, I see that now as I reread your original post. You say you have hemorrhoids "only once a week" now. When I develop hemorrhoids, which is once every few years now, it generally takes 3-4 days for healing to take place. So, it doesn't seem like you could have much relief time between episodes if you have them weekly. Have you had a lower GI scoping done recently?

Everyday I eat a medium to large apple in the morning and a large banana at night. I eat a cup of oatmeal in the evening. The ezekiel wheat bread I eat has a good amount of fiber. I haven't dealt with constipation for at least a year. Most of the time my feces are soft.
