Review Of Sterk's Gluten Free Italian Bread And Hamburger Buns

Hi everyone

So I consider myself somewhat an afficionado of gluten free bread. With 5 years of solid gluten free eating behind me I have tried most of the breads out there. This week I decided to order toaster covers-and decided to get a few other things from this allergy grocer site I was on. I ordered Sterk's gluten free italian bread and their hamburger buns. I will say that the bread is very tasty--it has that spongy consistency very similar to Kinnininnick bread and seems to hold together pretty well-though when I transported it this AM it split in two, but at least it didn't crumble into a million pieces like other breads I have tried.

The hamburger buns are a different story---I think these would be better used as english muffins, they are far too dense for hamburger buns, not to mention extremly dry and sort of tasteless. I had a hard time swallowing them and the burger at the same time! Maybe they would have improved if I had toasted them but I have come to realize that maybe I don't even like hamburgers with the bun anymore--its just too much food for me. Give me lettuce wraps anyday.

But two thumbs up for the bread despite it being about 5 dollars a loaf! Hey I will pay for non crumbly bread anyday!

Thanks for the input on the taste and my husband thanks you in advance for saving him some cash on MORE bread or buns I throw away...hee hee, I'm just kidding.

the first day i was diagnosed, i went to their house. they said that all of their things have to be toasted. that might help.

      Gluten tester

      I saw the thing for testing for gluten when at public places.I absolutely love but I wonder if they would come up with a bracelet or necklace that can detect gluten in the air.I would LOVE that, i know i get debilitating migraine from smelling gluten wheat what have you, all I know is when I go into places like Chevron- gluten Subway, migraine, Costco that...

      Thank you so much for your help, @trents and @Staticgypsy! I so appreciate your thoughts. My diet is high in foods with oxalates and I don’t notice any issues there. If eliminating gluten from my diet had changed anything I’d be happy to just keep on the gluten-free diet, but with eating gluten several times with no rash, and having a rash when I was man...

I am and wish I wasn't. If there was a detector of gluten in the air it would make a world of difference.
