I'm here in Virginia and we have a supermarket called Ukrops. I have noticed that they have an entire section on gluten-free products... entrees, flours, pastas, treats... it's just fabulous!! They are also less than a mile away!! Do supermarkets in your area have the same?

Some Krogers have the same, but not as good as Ukrops.

In case you didn't know, Ukrops also has a gluten-free list of products online. I live in Roanoke. I wish we'd get Ukrops here.

Wow, it's great! Thank you, Richard! I'm in Richmond :)

(Here's the Ukrop's link if anyone's interested)

It really is nice having a company that is so helpful with heath concerns.

Do you know you have a good support group in Richmond? It's the West End GIG. I actually came to Richmond for one of their meetings (and to in-laws) when the president of GIG was speaking. Here's e-mail for one of the organizers. Her name is Anna Ashworth.

I thought I heard of one, but couldn't remember where it was. Thank you... I will definitely contact them! West End is pretty close by.

ps... I'm waiting on going gluten-free until after some more tests and the wedding.

And here's the web site. Good luck.

Fairways (huge store) has regular food downstairs and an organic/gluten-free section on the second floor--it's fabulous.....huge selection and since it's a grocery store, not a healthfood store, the prices are so much better! :D

The two Wegmans near here, have Health Food sections with gluten free foods. The "super" one having more.

They are in NY, I know. Maybe NJ too. Not sure about where else though.

Hi everyone,

Just an FYI about Jone's sausage. All brands, except for the maple flavored and the pork/bacon flavored are gluten-free. The two exceptions don't have gluten listed in the ingredients and my grandson and I wound up being pretty sick for a day or so after eating the pork/bacon links. I was pretty peeved when I called their 800# to find out that yes, indeed, they do contain gluten even though it's not listed on the package. I hope that the gluten-free labeling law gets passed, write your congressman!

Looks like it has been. =)

Though.. I don't think it takes effect till 2006? Could be wrong there.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
