Aneurysms?

Two of my uncles have had them rupture recently. One passed away and the other one is disabled due to it and had a stroke because of it.

I have ocular migraines where my eye dilates for years. Then I found out my food intolerances were adding to it but they are still not gone even though Im being very careful about avoiding corn, caffiene and gluten. My left eye, which I have glaucoma in, is staying dilated and has been that way for at least the last three weeks with not a constant headache.

My dad's family was told to have aneurysm tests to make sure since it has a genetic link to it. My dad thankfully does not but 3 more of his brothers and 1 of his sisters have unruptured aneurysms they are keeping an eye on. He is one of 13. Im going to call a neuro dr and get checked with an mri to be sure that its not something that I have to worry about. I also found out it can be caused by nutritional deficiencies which makes me nervous.

Does anyone else have personal experience with this? Im praying that I wont have to deal with this.

Thanks for any responses :)

Where are they located? Are you going to get a scan?

My brother died of a one in the abdomen, the main artery that goes to the heart. His high blood pressure probably made it much worse. My doctor sent me for a scan when he heard about it. My Dad also had a bulging there, but he died from something else.

I'm sorry you have had to deal with it in your family also and Im sorry you lost your brother and your dad. All of my family had it in their brain. High blood pressure does make it worse and so does smoking. I dont smoke and my hypertension has been controlled with meds for about 5 years.

Im making an appt with a specialist, bypassing my pcp since originally I mentioned the migraines a few years ago he just pushed it off and said its common with migraines so Im hoping to get an mri just to make sure.

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
