Early Diagnosis Of Gluten Sensitivity: Before The Villi Are Gone!

I learned a lot about Celiac Disease and Gluten Intolerance/Sensitivity from my naturopathic doctor this week. I went into his office thinking that celiac disease and gluten intolerance were a very different diagnoses with different treatments. Hence the reason for me wanting to know which one I had. Well, as you can guess, I was wrong. The treatment is the same, and the damage done to your body by the gluten can be the same. With both you need to adopt a gluten free diet for life.

He gave me this article to read which really explains how severe a gluten sensitivity really is when in our society we are lead to believe that an intolerance or sensitivity is not as serious as celiac disease.

I know that a lot of people already know about enterolab here, but I think this forum is where new people coming in probably end up and reading this article really helped me understand a lot of things.

LittleZoe...thanks for the link. I found the article to be very interesting as I am awaiting the results of my biopsy (which I suspect will be negative). I was just diagnosed with a form of microscopic colitis and it certainly seems to fit right in there with gluten sensitivity, if not full-blown celiac disease. Dr. Fine does a good job of explaining the link and why the stool testing seems to be so much more accurate than blood tests. And we all know that the biopsies are not necessarily foolproof either.

Thanks!

Absolutely my point with Kerrigan, the owner. She stood to secure many years of faithful patronage by simply inviting us in for a pastry or lunch. Or by simply producing another $50 e-card based on trust. We would have been highly satisfied. We are limited to a few restaurants in the area, and that would have been one. It was very disappointing, esp to my wife, to realize we can't patronize the place anymore.

You would think any business would see the wisdom of honoring a $50 gift certificate on the basis of customer satisfaction alone, apart from any questions about software glitches.

So there was no physical, plastic card involved, correct?

When my wife attempted to open the online card in the store with a cashier, it would not work. We then showed the owner the link to the card, the online receipt that I got upon purchase, and even my bank statement confirming the purchase. That did not satisfy her, since she said she needed the link to open to reveal the gift ID num. They even admitted they had a systems problem around that time.
