Hello All,

I was suffering from a sinus infection for almost a year. I mentioned this to my chiropracter and he told me it may be because I eat wheat. I didnt believe him and continued on being sick. I then was looking for natural ways to help my sinus infection when on of the ways was to stop eating gluten/wheat. I tried this for two weeks and felt significantly better. I then went back to eating wheat and got immediatly sick again. Ive been about 7 months wheat/gluten free since.

I have yet to go to a doctor to test for allergies for wheat/gluten. Too expensive. My chiropracter is a family friend and its cheap to go to him.

My problem is that there will be weeks where I feel terrific, and my sinuses dont bug me at all. Then there will be months where Im clogged up, feel horrible and huge pressure in my sinus region. When I feel great it usually starts feeling like Im coming down with a cold, then even though I fight the cold, my sinuses come back.

There are times where I go to a restaraunt and they cook my food on a grill with Soy Sauce (most contain wheat), but thats as far as I have not been wheat free. Just an excess soy sauce that wasnt even mine.

Can this cause it? Should I go to a doctor and make sure in wheat/gluten allergies? Or just a re-occuring sinus infection (even though I feel better for weeks at a time).

I have allergies in general. Pollen, and I dont use perfumes in my laundrey or anything.

Any help will be appreciated.

I don't know that the gluten free diet is a total sinus cure. I have to say it did help mine. My doctor was amazed when he saw the inside of my nose not bright red after only two weeks on the gluten free diet. He said stay on it for 3 months. Also I could finally breath through both sides of my nose and my ear that is always clogged is finally clearing up. It can't hurt to try the gluten free diet to see.

Ive actually been on both for a while. About 7 months. I guess it may be a sinus infection that gets aggravated when its about to heal by a cold. I miss breathing out of both my nostrils :(

@knitty kitty  Thank you very much for the advice. I did the exam this morning, my doctor actually suggested me to take something called "Celiac duo test" in which I first do the genetic test and if it's positive, then I'll have to do the antigen blood test. I have to attend 1 month until my results are ready, so I have some weeks to increase the amount of gluten I eat daily. It will be hard because my health is not the best right now, but I also did a blood test to cheek my nutritional deficiencies. The results will arrive on Tuesday, so I can ask my doctor what should I do to control my symptoms and blood levels during this month. For now I'm resting and paying attention to what I eat— at least I don’t look like a vampire who just woke up, like I did yesterday. I'm still scared because is the first time I've felt this sick, but this is the right moment to turn things around for the better.  I realized that if I eat gluten at lunch I cannot finish the day properly, I become severely tired and sometimes my stomach hurts a lot - let's not talk about the bloating that starts later. Do you think is it ok to eat gluten just in the morning, like some cookies and slices of bread for breakfast?

I suffer from Dermatitis Herpetiformis, too.  Like @Rogol72, I had to cut out all gluten-free processed foods, dairy, oats, and eggs before my skin cleared up.  I followed the Autoimmune Protocol Diet. I also supplement with the eight essential B vitamins.  (Meat and liver are great sources of B vitamins.)  Low levels of certain B vitamins ( B12, Thiamine, Pyridoxine, and Niacin) can affect the nerves, resulting in itching and tingling.  Niacin especially helps with the itching and healing the blisters.  Tallow Balm helps with the healing, too.  Zinc and Vitamin A also help with skin health.   I've gotten such good results with Niacin and the other vitamins mentioned that I've never had to go on Dapsone.

I think Tierra Farms is a gluten free facility, at least that is what it says on the bag of walnuts that I have.

All of a sudden I can't get any gluten-free nuts. There are only 2 nuts available that I can find on the market that are gluten-free. One is Mauna loa brand macadamia nuts, the other is Wonderful pistachios. Other than that all types of nuts that are plain nuts, roasted or raw are no longer gluten-free and are processed and plants that also process wheat.  Has anyone found a source for Pecans, almonds peanuts, walnuts, Pine nuts, etc that is gluten-free?
