Is It Possible To Have Gastric Bypass?

Unfortuantly, I am not lucky enough to actually lose weight when I get glutened. I was diagnosed a few months ago, and I have been overweight most of my life. My dh is also overweight and he is considering a gastric banding procedure. I was just wondering of a dr would actually do this procedure on someone with celiac disease?? My brother had a gastric bypass a few months ago and has lost 120+ lbs. I would DESPERATLY love to lose weight, but I can never seem to lose any. And everytime I get glutened, I seem to gain weight.

Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge about this?

If I were you I would not do this quite yet. You may find that doctors are going to agree. The reason is because you have not been gluten-free very long. IMHO You most likely still have quite a bit of damage and are not to the point where you are absorbing nutrients fully. If you do this procedure you are going to be restricting nutrient intake even further. In addition this is not a risk free procedure and with your system still being impacted by occasional accidental glutening adverse effects from the surgery itself may occur.

Please make sure you explore this very throughly, don't just look at good outcomes look at all the risks also, then make your decision carefully.

The problem with a gastric bypass is, that it causes huge problems down the road. Yes, you'll lose weight. But you also won't absorb a lot of nutrients. People who've had a gastric bypass are relying on large doses of vitamins to try to fulfill their body's need for essential nutrients, since it isn't possible for them to get those through food any more. I seriously believe that you'll shorten your lifespan if you go the gastric bypass route.

As ravenwoodglass mentioned, you haven't been gluten-free very long, and are likely not absorbing nutrients too well yet. Give it more time.

      Yes, some people do get withdrawal from gluten but gluten withdrawal doesn't usually cause gut pain. Maybe more like general body aches and discomfort. We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic.       Do you or anyone know alot about ibuprofen I wasn't sure if I was eating too much apple sauce. Something is making my pain so much worse I'm referring to the intense pins and needles in my feet and lower legs. Jaw actually has tardive dystonia and muscle spasms throughout my back Almost like an opposite effect that a pain reliever...

      When my wife attempted to open the online card in the store with a cashier, it would not work. We then showed the owner the link to the card, the online receipt that I got upon purchase, and even my bank statement confirming the purchase. That did not satisfy her, since she said she needed the link to open to reveal the gift ID num. They even admitted they had a systems problem around that time.

Six months later, and numerous absurd back and forths, and the owner literally informs me there have been "bad actors", so she can't make good on this lost gift card. In other words, she accused me of lying and committing fraud... over $50! Please be careful with your orders and purchases here.

This can damage the stomach lining if you eat it too often. Especially if your stomach lining is already compromised. Ibuprofen inhibits the body's ability to rebuild the stomach's protective mucosal lining. That's why it can cause peptic ulcers. As strange as it may sound, low level irritation/inflammation stimulates the body to rebuild the stomach lining. There are two steps in this rebuilding process known as COX 1 and COX 2. Ibuprofen represses both COX 1 and COX 2. Celecoxcib, a prescription anti inflammatory, inhibits only COX 2, making it less likely to cause damage to the gut lining.

I'm fairly new to this. Whatever is going on seems to be worsening  Do people get a withdrawal effect from gluten?  It's extremely painful 😖  I'll post that question or research on the site  Thank you everyone for responding
