Yesterday I took my daughter to do a meet and great with a new pediatrician. I was feeling quite lightheaded and thought I was just getting warm but, when I stood up to leave I blacked out and end up laying on the table for almost a hr. I was spos to go to the dietitan (finally) so they wheeled me upstairs and I almost blacked out again so they sent me to the e.r. I just found out last week that I have celiac disease so I have been following the diet from what I have learned on here. Since I started this I feel worse. Why is that? With the blacking out and the stomach problems is this normal? They gave me a bag of IV and checked my heart my blood pressure was 77/68!!! I have low blood pressure but man that is low is this from the food change? Please help not sure what to do!!

I am sorry to hear you were in the ER. Just wanted to wish you well thoughts. I hope you are doing better today.

You said you were new to the diet, what have you been eating in the last week? Is it possible that what you have been eating instead of gluteny foods is somehow out of balance nutritionally?

A dietitian might not be up to date with which products are gluten free and which are not, but they could probably help with putting together a diet that has all the nutrients and enough energy.

I would make sure that you keep some gluten-free snack bars with you in the car and at work and just with you. So that when you feel light headed - get something in your stomach.

It takes your body a few months to adjust to a new diet - especially the gluten-free kind!

I eat small meals throughout the day to prevent the lightheadedness - amke sure you are taking your gluten-free vitamins as well! I find that I do not have the stamina that I used to have prior to this diagnosis, but you have to find what is right for you.

I found that once I was diagnosed with celiac disease my grocery shopping changed - I buy so much more fresh produce and fruits and keep bananas and apples and pears with me - lots of veggies too. I also add nuts to a lot of food (in moderation, but they are satisfying to me). GL!

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
