Howdy folks,

I thought I'd drop by and leave a status report..

Let me see, in the last month, I've turned 47...gone to Reno...had a kid graduate from High School and reached a major milestone with my company(Now eligible for early retirement). I really want to tell you who it is and rag on them, but I'm not going to:)

Lots of stuff going on.

Our trip to Reno (one of the gambling Mecca's in the western US, like a mini Vegas for those who don't know) was fun...except for one small problem: I couldn't find anything to eat! Those casinos want to give you nothing but fast food, so you'll rush back out and gamble away your money.

Luckily I'd stuffed a huge jar of mixed nuts into my luggage, cause that was dinner for a couple nights.

Breakfast is always easy...eggs,,bacon hashbrowns...but dinner is always tougher.

This last weekend we had a graduation BBQ for my youngest daughter. We had company for a couple nights and I ate like crap. I felt like crap too, but it wasn't from eating gluten...it was from eating...all the gluten-free junk food I could find. You know the old adage...you are what you eat..It's true! Plus the stress of having company doesn

Good for you! Thanks for the update, and congrats to the high school graduate!

After two and a half years gluten free (and a few other things free) lately I've had a strange new sensation in my intestines... they're QUIET... :o:blink::lol: I haven't had real pains or troubles for a long time, but now suddenly there's this odd feeling of calm. It's like until now, even though it wasn't painful, I could always feel my intestines working, and now I can't any more, though they are working, quite regularly, too, thank you very much! :P

Just so you know...even when you think you're an old hand at this, and everything has levelled out, there can still be surprises...

Wondered why we hadn't heard from you much lately. You sure have been busy. It will be interesting to hear what the dermatologist has to say about your mother. The same thing has been happening to mine. Congrats on your son's graduation. Remember age is only a number. Wendy

Glad to hear you are doing well and keeping buzy and gluten-free. Sometimes our 'miraculous' return to health can be enough to wake up our family members. It definately was a deciding factor in my DH getting tested and then following through on the diet after a low positive. Hopefully the same will occur for your family.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
