Homeopath

Hi,

I went to my Dr. yesterday for a follow-up on my iron levels, and she suggested that I see a homeopath in order to determine a homeopathic remedy for when I get glutened.

I got glutened a week and half ago and I am finally feeling better. My symptoms range from d, to dizzy and lighteheadness to sore throat and a cough and seem to last such a long time. My questions:

1) The cost for a consult is $250. Is this going to be worth it? I have done alot of self-education, and have not read anywhere about homeopathy being helpful. I am very open to alternative medicine, I see an integrative doctor.

2) I have been thinking of sending in for Enterolab tests to see if I have any other sensitivities and have seen positive comments on the boards about them. Would that be a better use of my money? The tests are quite expensive as well, so I couldn't do both.

Any experience would be appreciated. I have until Mon. to cancel my appt. that I made for the homeopath.

Terri

LOVE EM!!!!!!! I have been to a Kinesiologist/herbalist. I love this lady. I went from being sick constantly, if someone got the cold, I got the flu. I have had more sicknesses than I care to admit to. I went to the herbalist after the baby (2 yrs ago) because the baby was having colic issues. A few drops for the baby and a bunch of vitamins and supplements for me and it was great. I nearly dies at the $150 in vitamins! But 24 hrs later we had a happier child. 48 hrs later she was a different baby! Even my hubby, Mr skeptic, acknowledges that this lady did something amazing. As for my health, now I get some colds like the rest of the world. If everyone in my house is sick, I get a stuffy nose - that's all.

The only downside is I think you really have to go to a homeopath that is recommended. I have been to some who really seem like quacks.

I don't know what they can do to help your reactions? Those are just terrible. But, they can help build your body back up to a good healthy state and give you supplements that will help as maintenance of a healthy body.

I hope you go. I hope you have a great experience too. Good luck!

I think that my doctor was concerned about building my immune system back up, since I have been getting everything that comes around. I have a sore throat now, which feels like strep, and I've had that three times this year! My bosy can't handle any more antibiotics-hate them!! The vote of encouragement is really helpful. Thanks.

Hey everyone

Just a note to say, i got a appt with a gastro that specializes in celiac. on the 19th of july. And much to my surprise he comes down to my town every month. So wont have to drive to SLC utah. :D

I broke out again, lip and my behind, still kind of achy. I had the worst headache yestersay It took 15 mg of vicoden to kick it but woke up this morning feeling much better today. Found out the lotion that i use to rub my dh back has gluten. It didnt say on the package but now i have switched to Dove to that should hellp.

The question I have got to ask is, should I ask to have tests to see if I am allergic to anything else? Would a gastro be able to do that? Or do I have to go to a different dr? I am so sick of dr's at this point but might as well get that done. (I guess).

Noglugirl-- thanks again for your help, we have no natural food stores around here so THANKS!!! :D

Hi,

I love my homeopathic; he has given my life back twice now.

If you live in Sacramento, he is worth seeing. I have a very weak immune system.

He has me on a whole desiccated Adrenal. Your Adrenal gland

Is important to your immune system, I also use Golden Seal root.

He gave me this when I get sick; I follow this Infection Protocol

Have faith, you will survive. I get mine from Pipingrock.com.  500 capsules of 10,000 IU for $22.  That is almost two years worth for me.  250 caps 5000 IU for $6.69 if you only take 5,000 a day.  It's like half the price of Walmart.

Testing can't alone be trusted.  Else why would it take so many years of testing and retesting and misdiagnosis to finally be told, yes you have Celiac Disease. As to what to eat, I like pre 1950 style food.  Before the advent of TV dinners.  Fresh food is better for you, and cooking from scratch is cheaper.  Watch Rachel Ray's 30 Minute Meals for how to cook.  Keep in mind that she is not gluten free, but her techniques are awesome.  Just use something else instead of wheat, barley, rye. Dr Fuhrman is a ex cardiologist.  His book Eat to Live and Dr Davis' book Wheatbelly were instrumental in my survival.

If you have DH you will likely also want to avoid iodine, which is common in seafoods and dairy products, as it can exacerbate symptoms in some people. This article may also be helpful as it offers various ways to relieve the itch--thanks for the tip about Dupixent, and I've added it to the article:

I just want to clarify that what I posted is a category of research summaries we've done over the years, and nearly each one shows that there is definitely a connection to celiac disease and migraine headaches. The latest study said: "the study did indicate some potential causal associations between celiac disease and migraine with or without aura, as well as between migraine without aura and ulcerative colitis...this study did not find evidence of a shared genetic basis..." Anyway, there is definitely a connection, and you can go through more of the articles here if you're interested: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/celiac-disease-amp-related-diseases-and-disorders/migraine-headaches-and-celiac-disease/

Two months ago, I started taking Dupixent for dermatitis herpetiformis and it has completely cleared it up. I can't believe it! I have had a terrible painful, intensely itchy rash for over a year despite going fully gluten-free. See if your doctor will prescribe Dupixent. It can be expensive but I am getting it free. When the dermatitis herpetiformis was bad I could not do anything. I just lay in bed covered in ice packs to ease the pain/itching and using way too Clobetasol. Dapsone is also very good for dermatitis herpetiformis (and it is generic). It helped me and the results were immediate but it gave me severe anemia so the Dupixent is better for me. Not sure if it works for everyone. I cannot help with the cause of your stress but from experience I am sure the severe stress is making the celiac and dermatitis herpetiformis worse. Very difficult for you with having children to care for and you being so sick. Would this man be willing to see a family therapist with you? He may be angry at you or imagine that your illness is a psychosomatic excuse not to take care of him. A therapist might help even if he won't go with you. Also do you have any family that you could move in with (with the kids) for a short time to get away? A break may be good for you both.
