It's sad when a gluten raction brings happiness to Mom! My 2 yr old has been sick, not growing, constant ear infections, rashes, etc. She was tested for Celiacs, but results were inconclusive. She went dairy free nad had improvements, but still has problems. So I finally broke down and made her gluten-free. Many people kept suggesting it. Well, she's been gluten-free for about 3 weeks. She got into some wheat a few days ago and she is havign a reaction complete with diarrhea, rash, and moody!!!! Even the daycare noticed she is not her happy wild little self! Even better when people who know nothing about this disease can see the changes. The rash is the same insanely itchy rash she used to get before dairy was removed. I know she has not had any dairy. Purely gluten-free she had formed poops - a first for her! Now full blown liquid diarrhea. Sorry TMI. I am just excited that we may have found the source of her issues, finally! Also just found a holistic doctor that should be able to help boost her immune system. Finally turning the corner in her health!!! :P Yippie!!!

I am doing the happy dance for you! It is always so much better to know what is wrong, and luckily it is something that can be taken care of by removing gluten from her meals. Good luck with your new doctor, let us know how that works out for you.

The way I see it is that traditional Drs have told me they do not know what else to do about the ear infections. The gastro yells at me. I've stopped going. The holistic Drs have worked wonders for me in the past and I have been to a meet the Dr session to see first hand what he does. I love it. So in a few weeks the youngest will go and hopefully be on to a healthier life!

I always say that an inconclusive biopsy in a child (they are sometimes hard to positively diagnose) means the same thing as an "abnormal" biopsy. She obviously has some inflammation, irritation, damage, etc.

Without all the history in your sig, I might say that she might have a wheat allergy or temporary wheat intolerance, which many young children do and grow out of (but not always).

BUT with that family history, symptoms, and biopsy, she is likely to be Celiac. You are doing the right thing keeping her gluten-free. But you knew that. ;)

Best of luck with the little one, and I hope she grows up happy and healthy! :) Yay!

P.S. Holistic doctors have got it going on! Hopefully one will mentor me. :)

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and I found myself giggling with happiness as I read how your body reached such spring! And I hope that your current journey is also successful!! Definitely starting the food diary! So many amazing advices. And it’s very scary. It really hits all our soft spots as well as our confidence system. Most doctors I went thought I was underage despite being in my late 20s. Right now I look like am I twelve, but is also this body that’s taking so much, so I might as well love it too! Going to make the necessary changes and stay in this path. Thank you again! 🫶

Thank you so much for the information and kind message! Reading this transformed how I’ve been viewing my efforts and progress. Guess there’s still a lot to celebrate and also heal 😌  Yes, I’ve been taking it! Just recently started taking a multivitamin supplement and separated vitamin D! I also took chewable Iron polymaltose for ferritin deficiency 2 months ago but was unable to absorb any of it.  Thank you again! Hearing such gentle words from the community makes my body and heart more patient and excited for the future.

Your post demonstrates the profound frustration and isolation that so many in the Celiac community feel, and I want to thank you for channeling that experience into advocacy. The medical gaslighting you endured for decades is an unacceptable and, sadly, a common story, and the fact that you now have to "school" your own GI specialist speaks volumes about the critical lack of consistent and updated education. Your idea to make Celiac Disease a reportable condition to public health authorities is a compelling and strategic one. This single action would force the system to formally acknowledge the prevalence and seriousness of the disease, creating a concrete dataset that could drive better research funding, shape medical school curricula, and validate the patient experience in a way that individual stories alone often cannot. It is an uphill battle, but contacting representatives, as you have done with Adam Gray, is exactly how change begins. By framing it as a public health necessity—a matter of patient safety and protection from misdiagnosis and neglect—you are building a powerful case. Your voice and your perseverance, forged through thirty years of struggle, are exactly what this community needs to ensure that no one else has to fight so hard just to be believed and properly cared for.

I had no idea there is a "Louisville" in Colorado!😉 I thought it was a typo because I always think of the Kentucky city--but good luck!
