We have a new one in our town. I tried contacting them via their website three times and never got a response. Finally I had my husband stop by one day and ask if their regular tacos were gluten-free, and the answer was no.

That's all I know - I never made any further attempts. Sorry!

I have heard that their meat seasoning contains gluten. I eat there about once a week usually though... I get crispy chicken tacos or chicken nacho salad w/o chili sauce. I know it doesn't necessarily mean I'm not getting glutened, but I haven't gotten gluten-sick from there.. and I'm pretty sensitive. ::shrug::

Ok..bad news for my fellow Bueno lovers..

I emailed their office and they wrote back stating that they can't confirm what is gluten free at this time, but they are looking into a gluten free menu in the future. Guess we'll see!

Just thought I'd add an update. I emailed Taco Bueno this week to see if anything has changed - nothing has. Here's the email I received today:

"At the present time, we cannot recommend our menu as gluten-free since

we use the same fryer for both corn and flour, though the Ultimate

Gourmet Bowl is one item that we can recommend as gluten-free. Also,

the black beans and white rice are gluten-free.

We are currently conducting testing regarding a possible gluten-free

menu in the future.

I hope this information is helpful to you and please contact me if I can

help further."

I don't live near a Taco Bueno, I was wondering because I'm traveling for Thanksgiving and I know my boyfriend will want to eat there - he misses it terribly. I looked at the website and couldn't find the Ultimate Gourmet Bowl anywhere, so I don't know what it actually is.

I feel your pain about craving Taco Bueno. I used to eat there all the time as a kid (long before I knew anything about celiac), and have basically been dying for Bueno every since I moved away from Tulsa, OK when I was 13. It used to be that whenever we went back for a visit, my mom and I would make our first stop there, haha. Aren't the owned by the same company as Casa Bonita, though? We have one of those nearby... though I'd be too afraid to order anything there.

I went to Taco Bueno today in Blue Springs, MO.  I was told by the manager nothing is Gluten Free except black beans.  The chips are fried in the morning in filtered oil, by afternoon everything is fried in the same oil.  She suggested a black bean tostada for $1.29, however they do not have a separate area for preparing.

Yes, I, too, have osteoporosis from years of malabsorption, too.  Thiamine and magnesium are what keep the calcium in place in the bones.  If one is low in magnesium, boron, selenium, zinc, copper, and other trace minerals, ones bone heath can suffer.  We need more than just calcium and Vitamin D for strong bones.  Riboflavin B 2, Folate B 9 and Pyridoxine B 6 also contribute to bone formation and strength.   Have you had your thyroid checked?  The thyroid is important to bone health as well.  The thyroid uses lots of thiamine, so a poorly functioning thyroid will affect bone heath.

That sounds so very likely in my case! I will absolutely ask my doctor on my next bone check coming up in March... Thanks a lot!

Calcium levels as measured in the blood can be quite deceiving as the body will rob calcium from the bones to meet demands for it by other bodily functions. Also, supplementing with calcium can be counterproductive as it tends to raise gut pH and decrease absorption. More often than not, the problem is poor absorption to begin with rather than deficiency of intake amounts in the diet. Calcium needs an acidic environment to be absorbed. This is why so many people on PPIs develop osteoporosis. The PPIs raise gut pH. And some people have high gut PH for other reasons. Low pH equates to a more acidic environment whereas high pH equates to a more basic (less acidic) environment.

Kind thanks for all this valuable information! Since my Folate was/is low and also my Calcium, there IS a chance I am low in B vitamins... My doctor only measured the first two, oh and Zinc as I has twisted her arm and guess what, that was mega low too. So who knows, until I get myself tested properly, what else I am deficient in... I did a hair mineral test recently and it said to avoid All sources of Calcium. But this is confusing for me as my Ca is so low and I have osteoporosis because of this. It is my Adjusted Ca that is on the higher side and shouldn't be. So am not sure why the mineral test showed high Ca (well, it was medium in the test but relative to my lowish Magnesium, also via hair sample, it was high I was told). But anyway, thanks again for the VitB download, I will look into this most certainly!

Hello good afternoon, I was wondering if anyone has ever brought their anti-allergy pills? I have been wanting to use their Cetirizine HCI 10mg. They are called HealthA2Z and distributed by Allegiant Health.I’m also Asthmatic and these allergies are terrible for me but I also want to be sure they don’t have any sort of gluten compound.    I have tried calling them but to no avail. Has anyone ever used them? If so, did you had any problems or no problems at all?    thank you
