Sick Today, School Tomorrow?

I know I'll probably have to wait and see how she's doing in the morning but it would be nice to forewarn the carpool if I can't drive tomorrow.

If your child is having a gluten reaction all afternoon and evening, are they okay for school the next day or do you usually keep them home?

Just looking for other's experiences! :)

We usually expect DD to go to school (and stay at school) when glutened, but her symptoms don't include disruptive diarrhea.

If she couldn't keep out of the bathroom, I would keep her home. In fact, most schools have policies that a kid has to be free of puke and diarrhea for 24 hours. Not just to keep disease from spreading, but also because it is disruptive to your student and others.

Oh yeah... I hope she is feeling better soon!

I make my dd go to school. They let her lay her head down or whatever she needs, but she is at least there. And they are ok w/ her diarrhea if she has been glutened. I already talked to the school nurse and she is fine with it. Since diarrhea from being glutened isn't contagious, there is no problem. But if your child gets REALLY sick (like unable to function properly) you may want to keep her home.

Update: She seemed fine for school today. We ended up not doing the carpool anyway because the other mom cancelled. :)

Thank you that’s really helpful, hopeful won’t have to have a biopsy.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
