Gluten Free Deli Meat

Di Lusso is a deli meat brand made by Hormel. I don't know if it is sold all across the US, but the HyVee stores in the midwest carry it. On the website it stated that the beef summer sausage was gluten free along with mustards, etc. I checked with the company and they stated: "The only non-gluten free DI LUSSO Deli meat would be the Olive Loaf;

all other deli meats would be gluten free." This is great news for me, I can get a couple ounces for a quick lunch on the run.

Here's the Hormel website with the gluten free product list: Open Original Shared Link

Hormel also sells deli meats called Natural Choice and there's no additives or preservatives - plus it's gluten free! I get this meat from Meijer.

We use Boar's Head brand or Hormel, sometimes Wegmans, it depends on what mood I am in at the deli counter.

I am a "hormel -a holic"

Lets not forget their pepperoni is gluten-free also and says so right on their labels!

If you go to www.hormel.com and look under responsibility, click products, there is a whole list of gluten free products! :)

I actually have never had a chance to post on here yet, although I've been sucking up loads of knowledge (thanks!) for a few months now. Just wanted to add in that if there is a Shoprite near any of you they have a deli meat line called Black Bear. It's a really good quality and all of it is gluten free. My mother ordered 2 different meat/cheese platters for Christmas for the whole family (I was busy away in the kitchen making the gluten-free rolls,lol) and they really went out of there way to make sure everything was perfect. They sent a list of all the ingredients (just wanted us to personally check it), made sure the slicers were thoroughly sanitized (yeah, they suppose to be anyway but it was nice to hear), and was on the phone with my mother several times to make sure everything was ok. And it was great to know that my kids, me and the hubby didn't have to cook a whole spread for everyone and were safe to eat away. We are so extremely satisfied with them! Just thought I'd pass along the goodness.. :lol:

      I got my liver test last month and it was in normal range. Two years ago I did have a vitamin D deficiency but I'm know taking vitamin D3 pills. Last month I got my vitamin D checked and it was in normal range. I don't believe I've had my choline checked. However, I do drink almond milk eat Greek yogurt on a daily basis.

      Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (NCGS) can be associated with low ferritin and iron deficiency. Once Celiac Disease (1% of the population affected) has been ruled out by tests the next step is to check for Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (10% of the population affected) by eliminating gluten for a trial period, then re-introduce Gluten Challange. Have you been supplementing Iron? How are your liver enzymes? Low levels of ferritin indicate iron deficiency, while  59% transferrin saturation indicates high iron levels.  Possibly indicating Fatty Liver Disease.  Choline is crucial for liver health, and deficiency is a known trigger for Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver.  Some experts say that less than 10% eat the the Food and Nutrition Board established Adequate Intake that are based on the prevention of liver damage. Severe constipation and hemorrhoids may be linked to a bile or choline deficiency.  "Ninety-five percent of phospholipids (PLs) in bile is secreted as phosphatidylcholine or lecithin."  Fatty acid composition of phospholipids in bile in man   Deficiency of these bile salts causes the bile to get thick. Some people with Celiac Disease are misdiagnosed with Gall Bladder bile issues.  Removal of the gallbladder provides only temporary relief. Whether or not celiac disease or NCGS are your issues you need to look at your vitamin D blood level.

      Thanks for your input.

      If you have hemorrhoids 1x weekly I don't see how you have time to heal from one episode before you experience another one, unless each one is a very minor event. Have you consulted a physician about your hemorrhoid issue? It's not normal to be having an episode every week unless it is really one episode that is not completely healing between weekly flareups.

      No I haven't had one since 2021. I rarely have more than 1 per week.
