Tuna Salad, Chicken Salad Etc.

This does bear repeating to those who don't know this, but many restaurants, diners and food stores who serve tuna salad, chicken salad, potato salad are adding bread crumbs into the salads to "stretch" them. This will be a source of unintentional glutening. Keep that in mind when ordering. Sometimes the salads are not made by the restaurant - they are sold already made to the restaurant/diner and the waitress may not know if it contains gluten or not. The only way to know is if they make the salads by hand and can assure you upside down and backwards that they don't add bread crumbs......

So a "beware" especially to newbies...

Thank you so much! This information saved me many hours of pain!I was actually thinking of ordering a chicken salad, it looked so good at the last place I ate. I had the smoked turkey instead.

I want to point out that I learned this in 2 ways

1) A co worker of mine whose family owned diners and restaurants clued me in on this...her uncle's diner did make the tuna salad by hand, however they included bread crumbs to stretch it out.

2) I purchased some tuna salad at the supermarket, already made, and it had an ingredient label on it which stated wheat (bread crumbs) in it.

She used to take supplements, but her abdominal pain is so debilitating that she hasn't been able to continue.  Her primary care team has been suggesting liquid supplements rather than pill form to help.  They just drew a lot of blood Friday and we are slowly getting all that work back.  I will definitely check into thiamine!  Thanks!

They have not done that yet.   We are looking at some other treatments to help. And you are correct.  The tickborne illness has been a wild ride.  Our whole family has been battling different tickborne illnesses.  Its expensive and exhausting.

I cannot tolerate it at all - triggers burning and nausea, ditto aspirin.  Here in the UK I take Paracetamol.

For back pain, I take a combination of Cobalamine B12, Pyridoxine B 6, and Thiamine B 1 (in the form Benfotiamine), which have an analgesic effect.  These three B vitamins together work way better than those over the counter pain relievers.  Theses are water soluble B vitamins that are easily excreted via the kidneys if not needed.  Thiamine will also help the nausea.
