Casein And Lectins

So what's the deal with casein? I've read that its molecular structure is somewhat similar to that of gluten. How many people on this board are casein intolerant? Also, how common is lectin intolerance? I've read a little about it and am wondering if people who are gluten intolerant may also have varying degrees of lectin intolerances.

I don't know what the percentages are, but many on this board are also casein intolerant.

Casein is difficult to digest for those with a damaged intestinal mucosal lining.

I have a hard time with legumes. Just a hard time digesting them. I've read they're not all that great anyway, their nutrients don't get assimulated and they bind with minerals? (someone help me if this is wrong) So they actually take from you.

With the casein, I have intolerance also but can have butter and alittle bit of whipped cream. So the fat in casein isn't as bad as the protein. I think therefore its more of a lactose intolerance.

I am casein intolerant discovered 18 months gluten-free. I had bloodwork done that showed a delayed reaction (IgG) to casein, as well as wheat, oats, rice and yeast. I avoid dairy completely. I have similar reactions to casein as I do to gluten, but with more headaches, weird body pains and major bloating. I can't take legumes anymore either, and I miss them a lot. Essentially I am gluten, dairy, soy, corn, yeast, rice, legume and 99% grain-free. It sucks but it's better than how I felt before.

      Hello, I was very stick,  with flu like symptoms, but my virus panel came back negative and we couldn’t figure out what’s going on. The doctor then added a celiac panel.  Has anyone ever had such a dramatic change?  What are the odds this is true celiac I am going to have an endoscopy, but it’s expensive and I just feel like why can’t the labs be enough?

      Eating out in general is full of risks, but this article may help:

      This kind of question is always difficult to give a definitive answer to because of so many variables. One such variable is the sensitivity of the individual celiac to small amounts of gluten cross contamination. An amount that causes a reaction in one celiac many not in another, or at least not be discernable which, of course, does not exactly equate to being "safe".

      I see that Cracker Barrel restaurants have a gluten free menu (not all locations, but one confirmed that they do). I was wondering if it is safe for my 5 year old son with celiac disease?
