Generic Drugs

Hi all,

As I was seeing my new doctor for the first time today (as a few of you know, we moved a few months ago), I once again had to go over the reason why I much prefer to be prescribed brand name drugs over generic. I think I educated her a little on how difficult it can be for us to find out whether a generic drug contains gluten or not.

It just amazes me how many people in the medical field don't stop to realize (or just give it much thought) that our meds have to be gluten-free, too.

Luckily, she simply gave me a script for the one I have been using--that I know is gluten-free. She was very sweet and seemed to take my word for it. :) Hopefully, I made it a tiny bit easier for the next Celiac who goes there.

I couldn't help but think of all the new members we have welcomed lately--don't forget to check your meds and suppliments! :D

Hi Patti.

I'm thrilled that you like your new DR.

I was praying all day it would be a good visit. Knew I'd hear about now. This is just such a great post.

Do you think she's a 'keeper'?

Hope so as she's so close to your home.

I'll email you soon.

Love and CONGRATS ON A POSITIVE VISIT.....AND SCRIPT YOU WANTED.

Thank you that’s really helpful, hopeful won’t have to have a biopsy.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
