OK guys, Please forgive me... I am soo new at this. I was diagnosed last month and I have been doing so good and feeling so much better since going gluten-free. I have had no "D" or any stomach pain in 31 days. However, two days ago I had a stomach ache and had "D" three times. I freaked! It has taken two days to get back to "normal". Is it normal for that to happen from time to time? Should I expext this to happen and just deal with it and go on? Have I completely screwed up everything I have been trying to heal? I know this is a little too much info, but I know you guys will help. Thank, Tori

Oh no! You have not completely screwed everything up at all! I can't speak for everyone else here, but I personally have been accidentally glutened more times than I can count in the past 7 months since going gluten-free. The diet has a bit of a learning curve, and I think eventually something will slip under the radar for everyone, causing a person to get sick. It does take a couple (in my case 3 to 4) days to clear up and get back to normal, and there's not really much you can do other than ride it out. Everyone has their own strategies for managing the symptoms, so I would encourage you to find what works for you to help you to feel better. (There are several threads about this that you can have a read through.) The damage to your intestines will take a while to heal, but you won't undo all that healing with one episode like this. Good luck! It sounds like you are doing a great job figuring things out! I sure didn't go a 31-day stretch at first when I was figuring things out! :)

Thanks!! Feeling better already!

You got inadvertant contamination, which happens frequently until you learn not to eat processed foods...even gluten-free ones make me sick sometimes. Eating anything without a specific gluten-free label on it is dangerous. Don't be discouraged, you cannot protect yourself completely and will certainly get glutened occaissionally in the future. You have not undone all of the healing you started, and it wouldn't matter if you had, you still have to be strictly gluten-free. Keep up the diet as best you can and like I said, stick to whole, unprocessed foods to be safest.

No I don't think you screwed everything up. I get glutened, I was just mildly glutened yesterday.

We are still in the healing process, and every day we go without gluten is a good day.

When my wife attempted to open the online card in the store with a cashier, it would not work. We then showed the owner the link to the card, the online receipt that I got upon purchase, and even my bank statement confirming the purchase. That did not satisfy her, since she said she needed the link to open to reveal the gift ID num. They even admitted they had a systems problem around that time.

Was the card itself lost or just the record or both?

We were flabergasted that the owner would not acknowledge a $50 e-gift card I purchased for my celiac wife. My wife tried to open it in the store and was informed there had been a system change and they could not find the record. No worries, she was told, just talk to management. Six months later, and numerous absurd back and forths, and the owner literally informs me there have been "bad actors", so she can't make good on this lost gift card. In other words, she accused me of lying and committing fraud... over $50! Please be careful with your orders and purchases here.

Yes, some people do get withdrawal from gluten but gluten withdrawal doesn't usually cause gut pain. Maybe more like general body aches and discomfort. We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic. This can damage the stomach lining if you eat it too often. Especially if your stomach lining is already compromised. Ibuprofen inhibits the body's ability to rebuild the stomach's protective mucosal lining. That's why it can cause peptic ulcers. As strange as it may sound, low level irritation/inflammation stimulates the body to rebuild the stomach lining. There are two steps in this rebuilding process known as COX 1 and COX 2. Ibuprofen represses both COX 1 and COX 2. Celecoxcib, a prescription anti inflammatory, inhibits only COX 2, making it less likely to cause damage to the gut lining.

Do you or anyone know alot about ibuprofen  I wasn't sure if I was eating too much apple sauce.   Something is making my pain so much worse  I'm referring to the intense pins and needles in my feet and lower legs.  Jaw actually has tardive dystonia and muscle spasms throughout my back Almost like an opposite effect that a pain reliever would do. I'm fairly new to this. Whatever is going on seems to be worsening  Do people get a withdrawal effect from gluten?  It's extremely painful 😖  I'll post that question or research on the site  Thank you everyone for responding
