Is Anyone Still Having Problems With Mrs. Mays?

I've been gluten free now for 7 months and feel terrific except when I eat Mrs. Mays Naturals Nut mixes. I know there have been some questions about the rice malt in it. I contacted them and was told that they make their own rice malt and it does not contain gluten. However, I still don't feel well when I eat them. Gassy, anxiety back, bloated, etc.. Just wondering if maybe the nuts are contaminated. Anyone else experience this? I'm sad because I love them :(

If you're getting GI symptoms it may just be that you are still healing and the nuts and seeds are irritating to your sensitive tissue. I had to cut out nuts and seeds, including tomato, cucumber, flax and sesame seeds for several months while I was healing. And I am introducing them back occasionally in small quantity. It' s very common for those who have intestinal tract diseases to have problems with nuts and seeds, which are hard to digest.

I'd like to point out that the last time I purchased a Mrs. Mays product it stated it was Wheat Free and not Gluten Free and it's made in China. There's issues with products from overseas in that there could be strong cross contamination (please note the dog food fiasco from 2 years ago and the lead paint on children's toys situation).

So proceed with caution on Mrs. Mays stuff......

FWIW, the Mrs. May's Trio bars at Costco clearly state "Free of gluten, dairy, wheat, GMO" on the packaging.

good luck! vital wheat gluten made me violently ill. I will touch the stuff ever again.

I wouldn't consider this lucky. I can NOT tolerate the symptoms. And I googled it and I was not even getting 10 grams of gluten per day and I was extremely ill. They'd have to put me in the hospital. I'm not kidding.   I will have my first appt with a GI dr on March 4th   I will not eat gluten again - at least not on purpose   they are going to have to come up with a test that doesn't require it.

What Thiamine Hydrochloride brand do you take? Is it like the other vitamins I have added? What brand Tryptophan and amount do you take. Thanks

I would not think store bought yogurt would contain gluten unless it possibly could be through an added flavoring or coloring ingredient. Otherwise, it should be naturally gluten free.  Keep in mind that some companies are capitalizing on people's fears and ignorance (nothing personal intended) by labeling foods "gluten free" that are just that way by the nature of what they are. They are hoping to create a marketing edge over their competitors by adding "gluten free" because they know it may catch attention of those new to the celiac/gluten sensitivity experience without having to cost them anything in the way of changing their manufacturing process or doing testing.

I believe the GFCO does use a common logo for certified gluten free products (those containing not more that 10ppm of gluten) but nothing universal yet from the FDA for standard gluten free products (those containing not more that 20ppm).
