I love love love the pickled ginger that comes with Sushi/Sashimi. Can anyone tell me if it is okay for Celiacs? I had to eat something on the go today, and the Sashimi was not good without a flavouring. Soy sauce is not good, I know, but I was very tempted with the ginger, but didn't eat it because I wasn't sure.

i'm not sure about the ginger. you might want to ask them what brand of soy sauce they use, as some are gluten-free. or you could bring your own (which i will often do :)).

I actually bought some pickled ginger not too long ago after eating sushi and discovering a love of it. As fas I can tell, it is gluten free. I have eaten about half a jar at one sitting and had no adverse reactions. The best thing to do would be to go to a store that sells it. I believe I got my jar from publix. The product maay vary per brand. Just call the company after looking it up in a store. If you do find that some are contaminated, you may want to find one that is fine and take it with you to eat out.

      Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye.
