Problems With Apples?

I've been gluten free for almost two years now, and all my symptoms are nearly gone. But when I eat raw apples my belly still hurts, not if I eat only one, but if I eat them like two or three days in a week it does hurt... I think it also happens when/if I eat lots of salad or not well cooked vegetables...

does that happen to anyone else?? is this normal?? am I doing something wrong?

This has nothing to do with the gluten. Digesting apples and uncooked vegetables can be hard on some tummies. There probably is a name for it!

This would probably be fructose intolerance, as apples and some other fruits are high in fructose. If you're worried, you can have a breath-test to diagnose it.

Also, fruit can ferment in your stomach causing bloating, pain and wind, if you eat it last after your meal. Try eating it first, before your meal, so it has a chance to digest properly.

some apples, not all, cause alot of pain for me. Green, fuji, jonagold, braeburns, cause massive abdominal and bladder pain for me. These also cause me to have sores in my mouth.

Do you peel the apples? You may be sensitive to the resin that they coat them with.

I have definitely noticed that eating lots of raw veggies and some fruit skins are very hard for me to digest. I am miserable for a couple days after eating them. My system has been messed up for so many years, like 60, that it just can't handle some stuff YET. I am in hopes that when I heal over time I will be able to digest foods better. Good luck with your journey.

That is a good question. I usually don't peel them. I cover two counties for my job and eat alot of meals in my car. Apples are quick and easy to grab, so I haven't peeled them. I could try it though. Good thought. Thanks.

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
