Rolled Oats- Yes Or No?

Hi everyone-

I am relatively new to this way of eating- and things are going well- but I have a question-

Are rolled oats (gluten free) ok for someone who is gluten intolerant? I know it might seem like a silly question but I have seen opposite views in several books regarding rolled oats-including an Allergy Cookbook (which states that

rolled oats have a similar protein and that it is not ok for gluten intolerant people)

Do some people react and others not? Please help!!

A lot of us will react to oats, too, regardless of cross-contamination. It really is up to you and how you feel but if you are going to eat oats at all, make sure they are dedicated gluten-free. It is up to everyone to try and see.

Also, just try a small amount the first time until you know whether or not you react to them.

My daughter's doc also recommended waiting until she had been gluten-free for 6 months before trying oats.

i waited two years before trying them and had absolutely no problems. i recommend holding off on them. like soy, some have no problems while others do. i can have both. its just a matter of sensitivity and how much your digestive system can handle.

(they make REALLY good no-bakes though) and you can find recipes easily.

      I put on over 12kg by eating protein with every meal, 3 to 5 times a day. Eggs, Chicken, Tuna, Turkey etc. I stay away from too much red meat as it can be inflammatory. Scott is correct. I've come across a bunch of Coeliac PT's on Tiktok and Instagram. They all say the same thing, the key is getting enough protein and consistency.

      Trader Joe's carries a good variety of affordable gluten-free foods like bagels, hamburger buns, pasta, etc. I like Franz Gluten Free bread, which is available at my local Costco. Food For Life and Little Northern Bakehouse (advertisers here) also make excellent gluten-free breads. Costco also sells gluten-free pizzas, crackers, gravy, etc.
