Manicures

I am newly diagnosised with Celiac disease. I have been doing alright with the diets and was thrilled that I have not had Migraines since changing my diet. Last night I had a manicure and had a set of nails put on (Acrylic). Bam, the MIGRAINES ARE BACK.

I am wondering if anyone else has had the problem of Migraines?

Thanks for any help you may give.

Jan

I have not gotten migraines from getting my nails done but I have gotten them many times from other strong smells (or bright lights or loud noises). The smells for the acrylic nails are very strong. Perhaps that is the cause.

I suffer from migraines. I just found out that I have celiac disease last Thursday, have not yet gone gluten-free.

I don't remember getting migraines after having tips put on, but I do seem to get a migraine the day after dying my hair.

Maybe the harsh chemicals are causing it.

I have had my fingers burn after having tips put on.

So do we have any solid answer on whether or not nail salons have products that have gluten in them? The salons that I go to have Asians working there and (no disrespect meant), I'm lucky if they understand the type of manicure that I want, let alone trying to get them to understand what I'm talking about with regard to Gluten and Celiac Diesase! Does anyone have any info. on this?

The ND I am dealing with tells me that people with Celiac often develop other sensitivities, and not only to food, also to other chemicals etc. in the environment. Once your intestines and body begins to heal (after some period on a gluten free diet which varies from one individual to another) you likely will lose the intolerances. I would guess it is safer to limit exposure to any chemicals you can as we are bombarded with so many in our environment that we can't do much about. :(

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
