Question About E-mail Notification Of Topic Reply

I'm just wondering why I get e-mail notifications for most of the topics I am subscribed to, but not ALL. I have noticed that there is some inconsistency regardng this issue, and since there are so many posts, I can't possibly read them all, but I do like to read the replies to the ones I have posted in. I have estimated that I get an e-mail for about 9 out of 10, but usually it is that 10th one that I really need to answer! Then I accidently trip over the reply a week or so later and I feel bad that it took me so long to get back to that person... <_<

I assume that it is an automated response, but since I am signed up to get e-mail notification, shouldn't it send ALL of them...or is it just a computer glitch?

Does this problem affect anyone else? I guess I just needed to get it off my chest, I don't expect that anyone can actually fix the problem... :rolleyes:

I've had that happen...sort of. I get notified of replies to one topic every now and then...and then I don't get notified for some posts...and then it works again later.

I don't really use that feature, though, since I check MANY, MANY times per day...so I just view new posts every time.

I use the "view new posts" feature all the time, too. But I do rely on the e-mail notification, since I check my e-mail all the time, but I don't always have time to check the message board. This feature tells me about the replies that I have gotten to the topics I am interested in. It also helps remind me that I shouldn't neglect my moderator duties for too long. ;)

Here is an example of what I'm talking about. Today on my statistics topic, I did NOT get an e-mail telling me that Jessica replied, but then later I DID get one telling me that Kaiti replied. I get frustrated by that kind of stuff. Why didn't it tell me about Jessica's reply?? Anyhow, that's what's going on with me...

That's exactly what happens to me sometimes...like I said, I don't subscribe to many topics, but the with the ones I do, it does the same thing.

It happened again just now with your reply Jessica. Man this is getting bad! If it hadn't have happened to me with other people I would think it was just blocking your replies! :huh: I don't think it is anything personal against you, but it isn't letting me know about your replies today! <_<

Did it mention my reply that came right before Jessica's? Maybe it has some strange policy where it only mentions one reply, knowing that you'll check back for my reply and see hers. And then once you've read those, they'll notify you of the next reply that you haven't read? Trying to figure out the twisted logic of the automated mail message ;):lol:

When I get email notification, the message tells me there may be other replies, but I will only be told about one. Maybe that is what is happening.

celiac3270, It did send me one for your reply, which I checked a few minutes after you posted it. But Jessica had not posted yet. So I would have expected another e-mail when she posted more than 20 minutes later after I checked it...

I don't know why it is doing this. It is just annoying. I do know that it will only send one even if there have been multiple replies, but I don't know how long it is before it will send another one. There might be a time limit on how quickly it sends you another one and maybe it doesn't really keep track on whether you checked it or not...

      I had to rush to the hospital last week due to anaphylactic shock from taking a dose of an antibiotic. Received EpiPen, steroids, antihistamines, zofran (all injected/IV). When I woke up the next day, ALL of the rashes I've had that started since going gluten free were cleared up. EVEN THE dermatitis herpetiformis was gone. Has anyone else experienced this...

      Exactly! Negative genetics can rule out celiac disease with close to 100% certainty. It takes tTg antibody testing and biopsy confirm the diagnosis in a genetically susceptible individual.

But be aware that to possess either of the two primary genes that have been identified with celiac disease (or both) doesn't necessarily mean that you have or will develop celiac disease. Almost 40% of the general population carries one or both but only about 1% of the general population...

      Have you had celiac genetic risk testing? A celiac genetic test is accurate with or without gluten in your diet. If you don't carry the celiac risk genes you can effectively rule out celiac disease for life.

Has anyone else experienced this or happen to know why that would happen? The meds they gave me were all meds that I've taken to try to resolve the rashes, but they never worked in pill form. I'm wondering if it the addition of the epi that helped, it if injected steroids and antihistamines were what did the job.

It remains latent until triggered by some stress event which may or may not occur. So, there is a genetic component to celiac disease but there is also an epigenetic component.

      Based on those results alone, it’s not possible to say you have celiac disease. The test that is usually most specific for celiac, tTG-IgA, is negative in your results, and the endomysial antibody (EMA) is also negative, which generally argues against active celiac disease. However, your deamidated gliadin IgA is elevated, and your total IgA level is also high, which can sometimes affect how the other antibody tests behave. Another important factor is that you were reducing gluten before the test, which can lower antibody levels and make the results less reliable. Because of that, many doctors recommend a gluten challenge (eating gluten regularly for several weeks) before repeating blood tests or considering an endoscopy if symptoms and labs raise concern. It would be best to review these results with a gastroenterologist, who can interpret them in context and decide whether further testing is needed.
