Fasting

Hi :) ,

Just wondering if anyone ever tried fasting as a way of overcoming leaky gut, candida or other related problems ?

Many years back, I did a one week water fast, and though the aim at the time was weight loss (which I cannot recommend, since I put on even more weight right afterwards), it did clear out for good my psoreasis and other strange skin eczemas, which is why it suddenly occurred to me that it might be a good idea to try again ... ?

I'm on an SCD/Dairy-sugar free diet since three weeks, and it has helped a lot (I used to be debilitated by terrible headaches/vomiting about half the time). But I still easily do get headaches, like today, for no reason I can detect (I'm so strict about the diet) - and I do have a feeling that all the antifungals (only natural) I'm taking might be tough for the body to deal with in themselves. So I thought maybe it would help clean the system totally if I could manage to fast for 5-7 days - anyone here having any experience with or knowledge about fasting?

This is an interesting idea... I guess I've never thought about it before. I would have to say that it makes me nervous because the body really needs nutrients to function, especially since you're talking about an entire week here. I don't think I'd ever be able to go a week. I do know, however, that juice fasts are very popular and successful. When I say juice, I mean homemade veggie juices. There's even something called Gerson Therapy which utilizes juice fasts that has been known to cure cancer. Open Original Shared Link

I would say, if you're going to fast, you should still be giving your body essential nutrients. I'm pretty certain there's nothing in green veggies that would ever irritate Candida or Celiac. So, it's allergen-free and nutritious and also would allow your body to detox.

Hi Lovey,

Thanks for the comments and the link - I had heard a bit about this method to fight cancer, only I didn't know the name of it, so it was interesting to read more.

Anyhow, you're totally right about the nutrition. wasn't thinking of fasting only on water again. that was simply too tough, and today my health isn't strong enough to go through it again. But a week on just vegetable juice and soups should be possible withtout putting too much of a strain on the body only cleansing and healing. Think I'll give it a try ...

It would just be interesting to hear if anyone had already done so, and what the results were ...

But M&M's contain milk, and would not be at all like a Tootsie Roll.

I appreciate you validating me because medical is an issue and it's not ok at all they they do this. Some days I just want to call the news media and just call out these doctors especially when they are supposed to be specialist Downplaying when gluten-free when they should know gluten-free is false negative. Now dealing with other issues and still crickets for disability because I show no signs of celiac BECAUSE IM GLUTENFREE! Actively dealing with sibo and skin issues.Depression is the key because thats all they know, im depressed because medical has caused it because of my celiac and related issues. I should have never ever been employed as a bus driver. After 3 years still healing and ZERO income desperately trying to get better but no careteam for celiac other than stay away frim wheat! Now im having care because my head is affected either ms or meningioma in go in tomorrow again for more scans.I know im slowly dying and im looking like a disability chaser

M&M Peanuts. About the same calories and sugar while M&M Peanuts have fiber, potassium, iron and protein that Tootsie Rolls ("We are currently producing more than 50 million Tootsie Rolls each day.") don't. Click the links to compare nutritional values.  Both are made with sugar, not high fructose corn syrup.  I use them as a gluten free substitute for a peanut butter sandwich.  Try her on grass fed, pasture fed milk. While I get heartburn at night from commercial dairy milk, I do not from 'grassmilk'.

I see it everyday on my feeds.  They go out and buy gluten-free processed products and wonder why they can't heal their guts.  I don't think they take it as a serious immune disease. They pick up things off the internet which is so far out in left field.  Some days I would just like to scream.  So much better when we had support groups and being able to teach them properly. I just had an EMA blood test because I haven't had one since my Doctor moved away.  Got test results today, doctor ordered a D3 vitamin test.  Now you know what  type of doctors we have.  Now I will have to pay for this test because she just tested my D3 end of December, and still have no idea about my EMA.
