Cat With A Uti

My cat, 15 yrs old, seems to be having a UTI. I read to give her apple cider vinegar in water or canned food. So we tried it in food, no battle. I hope it helps. We tried it with a syringe...WOW...she is part mountain lion! Two of us couldn't get a drop down her. If we had dandelions, the leaves are supposed to help. We still have snow.

Any other remedies that work??? Thanks!!!

We had a guinea pig with kidney stones a few years ago, and the vet told us to put cranberry juice into her water bottle, which she loved. It did help. They say cranberry juice helps with utis. Or you could get some D-Mannose from the health food store and open the capsule and put some of it into her food.

Fyi...The apple cider vinegar (I used Bragg's) worked great. Our kitty was miserable for 2 days, both days having ACV in her food. The 3rd day she was alot better and the 4th day almost normal. It worked!! I will keep giving her ACV everyday since she is getting older.

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
